As some of you have seen, Russ and I were out searching for wrecks and something caught Russ' eye that led to me making it a short day: While I was looking for cars and parts, Don discovered something else altogether...[/p]
A hard core animal lover, Don had to rescue this sick goose. He later transported it to a rescue center near Coombs; hopefully it survived.
[/quote] I phoned the wildlife rescue centre and received some bad news. This wild innocent creature had a broken wing, but the real problem was that it been shot 16 times with a regular pellet gun. It was so riddled with pellets and suffering so much infection that they had to euthanize it. Now, I don't know about you, but this absolute ignorantly cruel act enrages me. Be it by kids or adults it is unforgivable in my eyes. I just wanted to say that if anyone here is to ever see this kind of behaviour going on and doesn't want to get involved, please report it to the Conservation Officer Service. If that is too much for you, drop me a PM with the details and I will take care of it, as it is very high up on my list of injustices in this world that I am willing to go to bat for. I am glad to know this beautiful Goose was looked after so well by the folks of North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre in Errington and that its suffering ended in a warm caring environment and not on a frozen river estuary knowing the blunt cruelty that humans are capable of. RIP.

Thanks for the vote of confidence everyone. Hats off to the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Errington, it is a tough job to see stuff like this on a regular basis.
