Living beside highway 99 a long time ago and having many VW's in my yard we had lot of people stop by to chat or were needy. Thought I would share another story....a young couple on their way back from Whistler stopped in with a sweet looking 66 dorm mobile from Victoria on their way home. It was 2 tone beige and brown and still smelled of incense they told me it was at one time owned by the harichrishna's in Victoria. They said it wasn't running very good so asked me to have a look. Well it was idling way too high for one thing and backfiring terribly . So I popped the hood to find the Carb had been wired open to run about 1800 rpm . The distributor cap wasn't on right either sitting cockeyed so took the distributor cap off as well to find the rotor was broken . I don't know how the thing even ran??. So after finding the carb was well worn out I put a spare 28 pict I had on it and fixing up the dist. It ran very nice and they said it never ran that well ever. Getting late I think we even put them up for the night in our next door rental. Can't remember. Anyways didn't charge them a dime so the next day when they were leaving they gave us a nice drawing of their bus they had drawn the night before for us.

Neat story Karl. Reminds me of an adventure with a electrical problem on my way thru Twisp WA. We noobs are always grateful to find guys like you with the mechanic's eye to save our bacon and to learn from. Now that is karma producing help . Do you still have the drawing somewhere? Dormobiles are my favourite, so bright inside!
