So after dragging my feet for many years with the mentality of Shaw does TV and Telus does the phone and internet . I decided to try Optik . Wow Wow Wow. I have only had it for a week now and Shaw is now a distant memory with their( loud commercials , pixelated picture quality and garbled pictures . all that was $100 a month just for TV) Now $100 a month for all 3 services for a year. My TV never looked better!! HD is as it should be now. I may never get up off the couch.

The only problem with Optik TV is Telus. When we first bought our house, we had telephone, internet and TV with Telus. The guy who connected us up could not tell us what our new telephone number was, so we called Telus to ask. 45 minutes later we gave up, called my wife's parents and asked them to tell us what their call display said.... Telus were utterly useless.

I have used Shaw for 20 years. I have crappy basic cable and internet only, and currently pay $108 a month. The service has not shown much if any improvement over the years; the TV channels certainly have not improved at all. Yet the rate increases every single year! Total BS.

Just heard this evening that the CRTC is going to force all cable providers to have a BASIC cable package that has to be $25 or less and must contain mostly local networks!?!? huh

That seem really odd Mark . Might have been a new installer or employee. I have had great relations with Telus since 1976 (BCTel) (very eager to help) Russ I think you might want to consider telus also . Like you I was with them for 20 years as well as that was when they came in and bought all the independent cable companies and we had no other choice. Hey Tony I saw that last night as well. I think what they were trying to say was having a Canadian standard for the big 3 to follow and put what ever else in there to entice us consumers. I think they will still have "themes" to keep the prices lower than picking what you want as that could be very expensive at $3-4 a pop
