This was a little bit of exploring for myself and Rebecca...
Ok with a title like that you would think it would have nothing to do with VW's... But read on...
Rebecca and myself had some rare free time so we decided to take a walk in a park. As we were in the area, we decided to check out Chemainus lake. Don had told us it was a nice place so off we went. The first thing that happened on the road into the park was Rebecca screaming STOP!!!! I didn't see it, but she saw something interesting at the edge of the road...
This was the first time I had ever seen a turtle trying to cross the road. Actually it was the first time I had ever seen a turtle in the wild, period. It looked irritated by my presence and turned around and went back the other way...
The park itself was a nice walk in the trees which had some very cool things to see.
Rebecca liked this weird tree with some funky branches? wrapped around. There were a few areas to see the lake too.
This lake was stocked with 3000 trout and several people were trying their luck....
So what does this have to do with VW's???
While walking through the park I just happened to look into the bush at the right time.... And despite looking I couldn't find the rest of the car. And yes I took it home with me!!!
And here is proof we took the bus...
The trip back was eventful too, but not in a good way. Before going home we stopped at my friend Brian's place. I took with me a load of parts to help him fix his '72 Ghia. He lives down a very long and winding road and we had a little "incident" on the way there. Given the nice weather, the motorcycle people were out in force. Perhaps some of them forgot how to ride in the off season. While going around a blind corner, several bikers were coming the other way fast. One of them crossed over the centre line and made no effort to correct his course. I heard and felt the bang! The bikers continued down the road and made no attempt to stop. Then it was out to survey the damage (and say quite a few words that started with "F"! This was the result...
Luckily this turned out to be the only real damage. There was a rub mark on the back bumper but this came off with rubbing compound. I also had a decent spare hubcap, so that is OK now too. Still pissed me off however as it could have been much worse. The foot peg on his bike is what must have hit the bus. I thought about reporting it but what would I say? Hit and run by a motorcycle? Didn't even see what colour it was... Rebecca said the rider looked fat. That will narrow it down a bit....l
