I have been trying to get my Single Cab back on the road, but needed to get a set of replacement wheels and tires temporarily installed. The rims I had were rather sad looking and a couple hardly had enough clips to hold a hubcap on. So I figured I'd try my hand at replacing the clips. Here is the broken off clip Center punch, drill out and punch out Remove the old clip remnants Here is my admittedly hokey set up to get the wheel somewhat level, hovering above my vice with the tool clamped in it I felt it necessary to turn up the end of the clip in order to get the clip to fit closer to the centre The end of the rivet sticking thru I peened it over using a ball peen hammer…head only, because the handle wouldn't allow me to use it inside the wheel Once painted, here it is compared to the factory done one Here is the business side Painted to keep the rust at bay…Yes I know the paint doesn't match

Did you make the clips yourself? I presume the "tool" is homemade? Looks great!

I've seen those tools around before although it looks pretty easy to make , regarding the clips you'd definitely have to come up with the right metal or it would be too brittle/or to soft and goodbye hubcap

Where is the best place to buy the clips from please? Sorry Mark, I hadn't noticed that you asked this before…I got them from CIP1. Apparently their quality used to be really bad, but recently got better. I hope I got the better ones! They come in packs of 5(for obvious reasons), but when they have them in stock they also sell enough for 4 wheels. Cheers, Don PS Don't buy the tool, as I have said to Tony, borrow mine!
