Took the plunge, and bought something I am pretty pleased with.
I like the old girl so much I want to get her tidied up.
Do any of you VW people know any great places for the following?
1). Where is a good place to do a windows out full respray including prep work and refitting? And what kind of realistic budget should be allowed for that, which would include a bit of welding, but not much.
2). Where can I get my fridge and stove and propane serviced?
3). Where can I get the water tank cleaned out and pipes cleaned?
4). Mine is an '84 round light, and I would like to convert it to the later rectangle light. Is this an easy, cheap conversion or is it more involved. Just wondered if anyone had done it?
Thanks for any help, I am officially back into VW's!!

For your propane system, I would recommend West Coast Motorsport. They are one of the RV dealerships in Lantzville, on the side of the Island Highway (The northern most one, just after the southbound exit). I go there for pretty much everything for my camping trailer. I have always found them honest and good to work with. They are a family business, who want your future business. None of the RV places are cheap, but at least they won't try and sell you something that you don't need.
For the water system, if you just want to sanitise, you can buy the proper sanitising liquid to add to your tank at Canadian Tire. It is in the RV section, costs around $20 - $25 and will last for several flushes. You just add it to your tank full of water and run it through the system.

You will be even more pleased with the "old girl" if you do some of the work yourself However try: 1. Try Garry Templeman at 250 618 1674 . He can give you a quote on painting, but I would suspect more than $4K for just the weld, prep, and paint . Windows out is another story, usually done it myself. Remember windows out usually means interior out before they can be properly put back in. PM me if you are looking for someone. 2. No idea…an RV place like Arbutus? 3. See 2. 4. Nooooooooooo!! Don't do it!! Those rectangular lights totally SUCK!! Go the South African grille instead with 4 round lights(2 big 2 smaller). What about the Square, was that not an official "entry"?

I like the sound of the South African grill!!
I think Gary has returned from another sabbatical in the states and is back up at annex
Heard mixed reviews, some good, some bad, but would need a decent job doing as bad paint can never be escaped from.
I guess with windows the rubbers can be pulled back with tape, but I want a good job as I already love the van
As regards doing work myself, I'm not allowed as the landlord is, well, I don't want to swear but I have been stopped doing anything
I am looking for storage as I have a few vehicles and they need to be inside in the next few weeks
Very grateful for the advice and will be checking out the RV place
Colour wise , keep it two tone cookies n cream or go for another be colour I like wine ruby red
Would love some bbs wheels plus another house battery and a solar tricks charger
Not forgetting a potty!
