I bought this '66 Baja a few years ago as an engine doner for my buggy. I thought once the buggy was done I'd build a Baja too. I put the 1200 from my buggy into it but decided it just needs too much time and money to make it driveable again. It was a daily driver when I bought it. The actual body isn't in too bad of shape. The interior sucks, the wiring is questionable (although the stereo works), there are 4 rubber tires and flat black is cool right? Before I do anything rash to a classic car, is there any interest in it? No, it's not free.

I don't need another, but wouldn't a Baja bug look cool parked beside your buggy???

I hear ya. That was the plan. Then my kids got into an expensive sport and something needs to go, lol.

Very cool little Baja. I am interested too, but too many projects and not snuff time nor space. A price for those interested would really help Scott On another note…. The Buggy you did build is a beautiful creation and it was great to see it up close at the Cruise In! I can fully understand why it won't be seeing mud in the fall!

If you're looking for a Baja project and miss out on this one, I have a mid to late '60s shell posted on VVWC's site and will be adding it here once I get some decent photos of it. One piece fiberglass front end, probably won't have a pan. Similar black primer paint job and similar dubious wiring job...it looks like once upon a time it was a quality build, but a lot of offroad experience has occurred since then.
But I don't want to steal the OP's thread. His car is more complete and has a working stereo. Mine doesn't. No engine, probably no trans...a lot of "no, doesn't haves...". So buy his first.

You're a gentleman Clay. Hopefully I sell mine. Maybe someone needs a combination of them both to build a super Baja!!

I may be a doomed gentleman if I ask what sort of price tag you have on it...

Thanks for the interest everyone. No luck within the club so decided to post on Used Nanaimo and sold my Baja this past long weekend. Hopefully it gets rebuilt and we see it around.

I think there was interest here Scott, but you never put a price on it after being asked by a few in this thread thus making the next step difficult to take. Old VWs prices sought by some these days often do not jibe with budgets, I'm afraid. Until one really knows where the bar sits, it is difficult to know how high to leap. Maybe you told the buyer about this forum of "air-cooled people" and perhaps we will be able to see what becomes of it?

Congrats on your sale! Now I can push mine ;-) I need to get some photos of it, but some details here: www.vvwc.ca/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=10941Start with the body shell for $500 obo, other components can be left in the package for the right price, but there will not be an engine. How many other critical parts (like front beam, body pan, transaxle) I'm willing to include depend on a couple of other project requirements I have.

He did PM me the asking price promptly when I asked. I don't really have room for another project, but probably would have bought it if I'd managed to make it down to see it.

I think for future reference, it would be good if anyone who wishes to sell something, please include your price so we all can see it. The Victoria Volkswagen club requires this in their classifieds, and I believe many other websites do that too. I know that I personally do not respond to ads where the price is not listed...

Well put. I have amended the vehicle and parts boards' heading to reflect that sentiment.
