I bought a Vanagon which had blown heads, so went to Van Wonder in Vancouver (very positive experience thus far) and got a new (old, used) engine put in.
Now my daily, love it, a few battle scars which I added to yesterday, seems to be a habit forming.
Interior seats grim, but got a blue GL velour set of seats including el capitano seats, plus middle two seats and rear Zed Bed. Door cards and bits n bobs to be collected next month. This vanagon has a 1 year old gas tank, brakes and alternator and battery, so now she's running really nicely, driving well, straight lines, no funny noises.
Put some old VW alloys on to help with the aesthetics. Into it for quite a bit now, it soon escalates. Had a good quote from Gary for a same colour roof line to bottom respray, but don't want to spend money (that I haven't got) to simply increase the value by the cost of the respray....so I am thinking a nice detail and interior shampo.
Heater control unit fixed, all lights and indicator and horn tickety boo....
Gripe.....leak onto floor near pedals, and can see it drip drip drip from bottom of steering column. Greasy, slippery but clear. Definitely not water. Removed steering collumn shroud, seems to be leaking from the bottom of the steering column itself...is there a seal at the bottom of the steering column that may be perished?
A little dangerous as whole area greasy/oily, not good next to brake pedals etc.
If any one has any ideas, I would be very grateful.
Great to be back in a vanagon, just love how they drive
