My Dad has been bugging me for a while to go up in the attic of his garage and maybe start removing some of my accumulated treasure/junk that I left there. Several parts of my original long suffering '66 Beetle are hiding up there but I left them for now. Instead I found a few more interesting things...
How about these goodies? That sign in the background has some serious patina and history too. Dad "liberated" it from a long closed local coalmine and took it home and nailed it to his Dad's crusty old garage. When the garage was finally torn down, the sign was nailed up in Dad's carport. Today I finally got my hands on it and it is now going on my garage wall. Third generation... and Dad figures he got it 60 years ago!
This bottle of beer has an interesting story... My aunt travelled to Germany in about 1962, and one of the things she brought back was this bottle of beer and another can of beer. She gave it to my Grandma who put it in the back of her fridge. When my Grandma died in the early '80's, the beer was still sitting in the fridge and the cans was rather "puffy". It later sat on a shelf with the bottle in Dad's basement until it disappeared. Nobody knows why it ended up in the attic, but the can rotted away, but the bottle survived nicely. So anyone want to taste that 50 plus year old beer?? There are just a few floaties in it...
There were quite a few empty "stubbies" hiding up there too. This one was nicely preserved so I swiped it. I can remember back in the "70's, my parents drank ALOT of this brand!
And I did drag my old Appliance slot mags back home. Looking crusty now and were covered with bird doo!
Polished one up for inspiration... Really want to reuse these again someday... I have owned them for close to 30 years now!!!
