finally sourced some overhaul kits from Europe for these rare weber dfi carbs. the car exhibited no driveability symptoms except for a few lazy mixture screws and the fact that they haven't been touched since i was in high school. if they look familiar its because these are the forefathers of the much loved/hated weber progressive you see for vw/and many others with the major difference being both barrels are geared to open together. any hoo, i had disassembled, cleaned and was assembling the first of the 3 carbs when i noticed the bowl gasket was not being compressed properly and after pulling it apart (sorry no pics of this) and putting a straight edge across it i was amazed to find up to 60 thou warpage.......yikes. it appears that a ham fisted #$@@# attempted the tighter is righter approach the the fragile mostly zinc (and unobtainium)carbs and "warped em real good". picture shows the gappage with a bendalight down the bore. if anyone needs me ill be fabricating a carb holding jig for my pals bridgeport.

Your (I want to say years but dont want to offend) wisdom sir is always an interesting read. Everytime you post something I have to pause and then re-think if I've ever missed or bypassed something. Really enjoy your posts Mitch. Just realized I called you sir. Hope that didn't offend. Lol.
