I'm rebuilding a 1600 AE and I have the heads and cylinders off. My problem is after removing the piston retaining clips, I can't seem to get the pins out?? Any thoughts? The pistons and rods are garbage. I just need to get this block split and take it to the machine shop for inspection/bottom end rebuild. I could zip the pistons off, but I'm concerned about damage to the case.

cock the piston and use a heat gun to warm the pin bosses up. they then press out easily

Is there enough room to pull rod nuts off and separate at the crank I think maybe. Terry

Case is being split anyways. I've the case splitting tool if you need. Will make your disassemble that much smoother.

It's o.k. that I took this engine apart with a hammer and Vise Grips right? hahahaha
