I've decided I have too much going on, and as much as it breaks my heart to do so, I should probably pass this bus on to someone who will actually finish it. The bus is a 1977 European Specification Kombi and was originally used as a radio van in the Swiss Military. It is set up for a 1600 engine, and has a bench seat in front, as well as a non padded dash. Interior is still the original army green, but lower half of outside and roof have been painted with black Tremclad.
I've had this bus for 5 1/2 years, and been slowly working away on it for the past 3 1/2.
I have welded in a new rockers on both sides, as well as battery tray and rear wheel arch panel on one side. It should be pointed out that this was my first attempt at bodywork, and I and definitely NOT a bodyman. It's completely serviceable, but you may want to redo it.
I replaced the transmission with a good used one.
Fuel gauge sender is new but for some reason gas gauge is still not working.
Wipers worked when I got, but motor apoears to have seized up with sitting.
Windshield seal is new.
Rear wheel cyl and shoes new. Front rotors, calipers, and all rubber hoses new.
New front shocks.
Has Michelin 6 ply tires. Older but excellent tread.
Front beam has some fairly serious rust and should be replaced soon. I have a good one here that could be available for extra.
Now for the fine print: It's on Lasqueti Island, and will need to be barged off. This will probably cost a couple of hundred dollars. I can help arrange this. If you want to come over and look at it I can pick you up at the ferry dock.
The bus is currently running and can be tested on my driveway, but the engine that's in it is NOT included in the sale. This is non negotiable as I need it for my other bus. All engine parts specific to the bus (ie Euro tin) will go with the bus.
Clean BC registration in my name.
For it to be worth selling, I'd need to get somewhere in the neighborhood of $3k for it.
Let me know if interested and I can email some pics.
