Well today was the annual Parksville swap meet, and several VW club members were there to check it out. Rob started early, and managed to do a sweep through the meet the night before but didn't snag anything then. Today on the Sunday it was busy and Don and I searched for goodies. Jerry, Rob, and Reagh beat us to the VW stuff and all had got their hands on some items. Rob scored a cool brochure; hopefully he will post a picture. I found a nice Type 3 manual which I passed on to Reagh for his collection of literature. My purchases included the following..
The '59 plate was in very nice shape and after thinking about it for quite a while I stumped up the asking price. Oddly enough this was one of the few sellers I have met that everything was full asking price only, no exceptions! I suppose I have spent $25 on stupider things in my life... The German plate says Hanover on it so I couldn't resist that either. Don spotted some cheap yet decent tools outside, so we both scored some stuff cheaply.
This tired '74 Westy was up for sale but was quite unpleasant. Yours for only $2800! I think this one used to rot away near my neighbourhood for years and I used to pass it everyday and it never moved...
Some vintage bikes were on display. This one is steam powered!
This Brough Superior with Brookland's Special side car was very cool.
Another early bike with pedals to get it going.
This buggy was in the parking lot...
This type 3 was also in the lot and looking very nice... The swapmeet seemed to have more people then in previous years, and was well packed throughout the day.
