Yes it is that time of the year again. This show signifies the start of the summer car show season, and always has been a great event. The show and shine is held every father's day, this Sunday June 19. There will be 600 cars this year, lining the downtown core of the town centre of Qualicum. As you might expect, this event is primarily hot rod and muscle car related, but there is something for everyone. There are always a few VWs in attendance as well. I was going to enter the Ghia this year, along with my friend Brian and his Ghia, but neither of us got our cars completed in time... We will go as spectators this year. Don is still sick, so he won't likely make it. Is anyone else interested in going??? The weather is supposed to be mostly sunny, but with a chance of showers at the moment. It has not actually rained at this show in a very long time... Always lots of interesting things to see at this event...

I'm attending a wedding in Sunday ... No, it's not mine .... Sounds like your priorities are a bit messed up!!! I'll be there, but driving a '71 Cutlass. The Bug will be out at Volksfest.

Well lets see, it rained pretty much ALL day at my house. Qualicum's forecast for tomorrow is 80 percent of rain in the morning, anyway. Car shows in the rain are not fun at all...

I'm working, but my Dad will likely be going later in the morning. To make up for not going to the show I dragged the Ghia out of the garage for the morning commute today. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Nice cars! In the end I did not go today. My Dad did not want to go this year for the first time EVER. This was our father/son thing so I was bummed out about that. My own kid was studying for his final exams, so he did not want to go either. I have not missed this show for years and years... I hope those that did attend, enjoyed themselves...

Despite my failings, the VW community was well represented today. Started with showers, ended with a quick shower but was dry most of the rest of the day thankfully.
Jason's 356 D looked great, nice job on it! Also saw the green '53 Bug once owned by Kryn Zedel in Victoria, a beige '57 Bug which seems to be a newcomer to the island (owner has some other interesting VWs) and a clean blue/white '66. A super clean looking fastback, and one squareback too. Several buses including Tom's 23 window.
Overall, a great show with a wide variety of cars to appreciate!
