Today was the day for the annual Parksville beach car show. Although we did not enter a car this year, Don, Victor, and myself went up there to take a look...
The first thing Don spotted was a Doormobile conversion. Except it was on a long wheelbase Landrover instead of a VW... Nicely done though.
It appears my son Victor has a thing for early Camaros. He liked this '67.
This old dirt track racer was kind of cool. The original flat head four cylinder featured a rare Frontenac overhead valve conversion.
The tow car was rather cool, being a '32 Ford that somehow escaped the hot rodders touch...
It was nice to see this '80's Accord at the show. Younger generations appreciate cars like this instead of the usual car show fodder. The white tops in their old hot rods often don't get this. And believe me, all the old hot rods are owned by white tops.
An unusual choice for a full restoration was this 4-door '62 Chevrolet hardtop. It was for sale for about $22,000, and there was no way you could duplicate the restoration quality for that price.
Dad was there with his '37 Holden/Chevrolet Ute. He won a big fat trophy too, so was quite happy.
Even as a kid, I always loved the big '60's Pontiacs.
This 1958 Pontiac Bonneville was pretty sweet too. Except I would put fatter whitewalls on it!
Look at all that chrome on the '58 Pontiac dash. Compare that to a '58 Beetle...
This 1969 Thunderbird was beautiful shape. When I was a kid the neighbour had one of these in Maroon with a black top and interior. The back seat was like a contoured couch!
Possibly one of the rarest cars at the show. A 1960 Frontenac, produced by Ford of Canada for one year only for the Canadian market. Obviously based on a Falcon, I don't know why Ford discontinued it because apparently they sold well.
Check out the cool and original maple leaf hubcaps. Car had been modified into a subtle hot rod however.
More to come...
