Do you like that mess? 2006 Audi 3.2L V6. Four cams, four timing chains, four tensioners, four cam phasers, four cam sensors, two adjuster solenoid valves, one large headache. VW thought it was a great idea to put the timing chains on the back of the engine against the transmission. In the end, the running problem was traced to a tiny filter screen that broke away from the tensioner filter, and ended up jamming in one of the cam adjuster solenoid valves. Very big bucks to fix. Don't those old air-cooled engines seem simple in comparison???

that is a thing of true beauty...but what a mess.
I can't imagine where I would begin.

my buddy at the local vw dealer did the same job on a 4.2 liter and showed me a similar picture. the hours involved just to remove the engine is staggering.makes my dual belt, quad cam f-car complaints quite meaningless.glad i am off the bench for this new shite!
