Well today was a rarity. Finally a weekend with NOTHING scheduled that had to be done. No car shows, no buying/installing new washers and dryers, no yard maintenance, no kids sports, no international students to take care of, no honey-do lists, no nothing! As you may have noticed, I have not updated the Ghia project for a while, because little has been accomplished lately... So instead of working on the Ghia, I decided a garage cleanup/reorganization was in order... Don refers to this as Garage Tetris and he is right... First up was to remove all the vehicles and this took some time....
First up was to awake the GTI from its slumber. The battery needed to be recharged as I forgot to disconnect it last year and the battery was very dead. My 1950's era 100 amp charger did the job well (best $50) I ever spent... If you look carefully you can see the daytime running lamps are on to prove it actually ran. Car hasn't seen daily use since 2008... Later I even washed the dust off!
Next up was the '66 Beetle. I drove it a bit last year but poor hot starting ended play and the battery later failed...
Look carefully and you can see it running.. I bought a new battery from the place on Cliff street in Nanaimo, (Battery Warehouse?). These six volt units are getting harder to source so naturally the price has significantly increased. Mine was $127 including tax but she told me that she misquoted the price and should have charged me $169 plus tax! If I wanted another (which I actually did), the next would be for full list...
A rare peek out into the sunlight... I really need to drive this more. The problem is I am paranoid every time I take my Beetles out that something might happen to them... Tomorrows job is to wax wifey's FJ... or else...
