On the subject of carb cleaning. I used a improvised soda blaster. That's pretty ingenious! Nice work

It looks like the Saab suffered a bit on the straight aways, I wonder what the horsepower differences are. Stan

Well, my Saab dementia has progressed and I have had a few of things rummaging around in my brain... 1. With all my parental and home responsibilities it seems the years are passing by more quickly, and 2. with all the house/shop sports I have going on, the likelihood is low of getting my beige Saab welded and put together anytime soon. So what does one do when one's desire is still high for a running driving car? Keep one's ears open and antennae tuned for potential runners, that's what. Oh yeah, and sell a bunch of stuff too! Months ago I started dropping in on a FB group, Saab Preservation and Restoration. Some guy was looking for a Bullnose Saab and a fellow answered. But the original poster didn't seem too interested for some reason. So I DM'ed the fellow that said he had one and started talking with him. So he sent me some pics. His '64 actually looked pretty good in the pics, but we all know how deceiving pics can be. Over all these last months we have talked quite a bit and he seemed like a good guy so I decided to pursue the car. Admittedly at this point I realize I appear certifiable, which is an assessment I would be hard pressed to disagree with . We talked about doing a partial trade for my Iltis, but the logistics of that were too daunting in the end. But then, out of nowhere, the seller dropped the price substantially and the outright buying of the car became a possibility with the money from all my recent sales. So, breaking my rule(once again ) of not buying sight-unseen, I started the process. It totally freaked me out, sending money to someone I had never met. I guess at this point I was just gonna risk it, what the heck... I did do a face-time call to try and link him to the car and that worked pretty well, even though the signal strength was poor. Did I mention the car was in Pennsylvania?? Oh my effing god, I was totally nuts.....But you know what, it kinda worked out because here is the day I picked up the car in Seattle: And now here it is in Russ' garage while I try, with Russ' help, to get it ready for inspection More later...

Looks like a beauty Don! 😎👍 Thanks Tony! Certainly not a perfect car by any means with LOTS of details to attend to, but it makes me happy. Hopefully I can enjoy driving it while I work on it a bit at a time. My other rusty cars are now deemed parts cars for the most part...but it's all good . I ain't planning on bringing any more cars across the border after the raking over the coals by my lovely Canadian government(hint: I can't afford it ).

Aside from prepping for and taking a trip to Kelowna, I have had a little time to look into my wheel situation. Being that the car came with 3 newer(i.e. V4 style) rims and one original style rim, I have been forced to swipe the rims off my beige car. I set to blasting them and they came out ok. Well, for 4... Front before Front after Rear before Rear after But the 5th rim didn't look so good after the dust settled. Note the cracks around the lug holes. Russ figures it was probably run with loose bolts. Crap... And this is one of the minor dents in the last of my rims Since I want an epoxy primer coat I am hoping Mike and Dens here in Ladysmith has some time to paint them soon. Out of interest, these rims are Made in England. Russ will be able to tell you the name of the manufacturer

The manufacturer is likely Rubery Owen. Best known for Rostyle wheels as found on lots of '70's era MGB's.
