I needed to get a tub shower combo for my bathroom remodel and this was just something I don't think I could strap to the roof of the Golf and I don't like to bother people to borrow their trucks. Went and bought a nice lightweight 4x8 utility trailer so I could now haul important stuff I 'need' !!! Since I don't have a hitch on the golf I had to borrow a pickup to get the trailer home ! Shopped around for a hitch for the Golf , took me about 45 minutes to install got one of those electrical trailer lights relay things , installed it in about 30 minutes Everything seems to work OKish. The trailer hitch is about 4.5 inches off the ground and I hit every speedbump in town (almost) and that's without the trailer hooked up!!! So I gingerly went and bought some of those spring block things you put in your coil springs to give you a bit more clearance but when I jacked up the right rear of the car to get better access to the coil spring the spring fell out onto the ground......hmmmm. I guess 2 full coils were broken off and long gone , that's weird because the car was only about 3/8 of an inch lower on that side and everything felt really good when driving. So off to Bakers and two new springs and 1 hour later it rides 3.5" higher. ..........now I just have to find something to haul with the trailer........ Picture of my so called coil springs and my homemade so called spring compressors which took me much longer to make than doing the job!!

Or you could restore the single cab, and use that instead...

Or you could restore the single cab, and use that instead... Or just fix it. Restoring is just so, so, so, well you know..... Russ (with apologies) After all, just being fixed-up will allow you to still use it I keep dreaming of putting a nice shiny paint job on my SC, but the thought of not feeling free to really use the truck for what it was intended bothers me. Is that called a first-world dilemma? PS Nice job on the springs BTW. Funny how "to do the thing"(x #) scenario is one often run into when trying to get a task accomplished. Your Golf appreciates your perseverance. Something tells me you will find things to haul back home in that trailer

Don I'm not sure if you've taken a close look at your SC lately but there appears to be some shrubbery growing in the back , which reminds me of my '70 KG convertable that was my daily driver in the early '80s it had little plants and mushrooms growing in the luggage compartment just below the rear window lol
