So here we go again. Now that Photobucket is swirling down the toilet, we need to utilize a new host for pictures. Most recommend "imgur" as the current best site for this, so here is the tutorial...
First up is to type www.imgur.com to enter the website...
This is what the homepage will look like (although the images change constantly).
Up in the right corner are your choices.
Here is the sign up page. You can see what questions are asked and they are very basic.
Once signed in select images from that drop box.
This is what I see once I sign in..
To add photos, select add image. Duh.
This pops up next, select browse.
This will take you to your picture files on your hard drive. I selected this folder...
Clicking on the picture you want puts the name in the box, then hit the open button.
Now you wait a bit (seconds for one picture, minutes for ten). Then the new picture will be added to your images...
Once on Imgur, select the individual picture. Click on the "BB code" blue copy button, second from the bottom to copy picture. Note the size selector defaults to Original. I change this to Huge Thumbnail. This must be changed each time I log into Imgur.
Go to our MIAC website and right click and select past when you are typing something about your picture.
Once reviewed, your picture is now on the site! Not that hard... Now start posting those pictures!

You can also use the free mobile app. Then you can post the photos directly to imgur from your phone. You may need to resize the images via the Edit option (depending on your photo settings). Thanks for taking the time to post this bro.

So now that I have an Imgur account, how do I get it to upload the pics in order taken and display by date taken(like PB did)? And yes, I thought I tried all combinations of settings  Also, when it refuses to upload pics mid way thru, what the heck does one do? If doing a big batch how do you know which ones were missed? So far it is not working very well for me....  |

Found out that mine was working poorly due to my use of the old Internet Explorer. Now when opened with Google Chrome, it seems to be working well.

I currently have almost 3500 pictures now with IMGUR. And almost all of those are linked to this site. (Scary, isn't it?) For me it is continuing to work just fine. There are a couple of idiosyncrasies, however. One is that if you enter several pictures into IMGUR at the same time, they will NOT appear in the order that they were when on your computer's hard drive. I don't know why IMGUR does this, but is normally is not that big of a deal. I usually enter no more then ten pictures at a time. If you enter a lot more than that, then the lack of order is irritating.
The other thing that can be a pain is setting up albums. Although it is very easy to do by following the few prompts, I find that if you try to place several pictures into different albums at the same time, IMGUR seems to get confused and places the photos in the wrong place. It does have a nice feature that it will not lose any photos, because they will always be listed under "All Images". Overall it continues to be WAAAY better then Photobucket ever was, even long ago.
The one other thing about IMGUR that can cause you a problem, is the home page. It is very easy to get sucked in looking at the various posted pictures, GIF's, and comments, and before you know it, time has vanished away...

I was having trouble signing in too (on my laptop) until I just started random clicking(something I am usually loathe to do because it can get me into trouble). However, I found that clicking on the search function took me to a screen where I was able to sign in. It was not "intuitive" at all. TBH, it was rather frustrating!!

Still working normally for me. They are using their "beta" version now and the home page does look different. The picture hosting functions still work the same as they always have...

If so, just hover over photo when looking at your photos(ie you haven't selected one)and in a little grey box you will see a pen for edit and a garbage can. Click on the garbage can. Hope that is what you are after Boris. If not post with more details and I am sure your problem will get sorted. Cheers, Don |

thanks for the reply Don but i meant how to delete on this site. i want to try some pics but not fill up the site with crap no one wants to look at.i hit post to see if the pic was any bigger. must be my og pic as i did what russ said about big thumbnails. yea just recently signed up at imgur.

If the pics are hosted elsewhere(imgur like you are doing), then there is no chance of filling up this site with "crap", lol! Anything is better than nothing  As to your problem as I understand it, let's start at the beginning... firstly when posting be sure to first hit the "reply" on the red line to the right which takes you to a new page with your post and all the ways to modify it(emogies etc). At the bottom left you can hit the "preview" button or tab(or whatever you wanna call it) to see how your post will appear. To go back to your post to alter it, click on BBCode to the right of Preview. Once satisfied, click the "Create Post " button on the lower right. To be honest, I don't know if you can delete a post after it is entered, but I think the poster can do it. Only the admin can delete just any post, or user, or whatever(which I do only in extreme conditions). I hope some of that helps. If I have missed the mark again, please let me know. |
