Hey folks,
I was a bit disappointed to miss Volksfest, but I had a blast during a VERY hot and hard working week in Northern BC / Alberta.
A couple of buddies and myself brought a rig with a picker, a giant auto hauler, and a Hino flatbed and trailer to mile zero of the Alaska Highway. My friend does a lot of work up there and he is a picker of all things old, especially cars.
We dragged dozens of cars out of fields, bogs, forests and barns. Mostly big honking 1930s to 1960s American cars, but there were a few VWs too.
We'll start with this little ripper. Not your typical water cooled Bay Window.
V6 powered with no mods to the inside of the bus! They stuffed it in there like 10 pounds of sugar in a 5 pound sack.
Then there is this old gal. She's missing her face, but I have a nice front cab section, including the doors being delivered from Saskatchewan shortly.
Then we lifted this SC out of the woods where it has sat since Russ was a kid. It has some awesome sign writing that i somehow failed to take a pic of. "Woodley's plumbing and gas fitting". I know you patina lovers will be sad to hear that i'm not sure I'll be able to save the look. This thing is in terrible condition and will require a lot of welding. Will be difficult to fix to say the least. It is missing the rear frame and riddled with bullet holes.
I'm going to print and frame this pic...
I'll be returning for these. We ran out of trailer space.
This is a clone of my first bus ever...
I have a huge amount of pics, but I'll spare you. All in all it was a fun trip. I'll definitely be going back when the fires die down.
PEACE!
