Russ found "the one" already, but that one with some work would be one helluva rat rod 'vair.

Sooo, since I now own not one, but two Corvairs, why am I still looking at ads of Corvairs for sale? Because I can't help but look. And see if this one currently for sale in Vancouver looks familiar... Crappy photo, but I recognized it right away. Looks pretty decent, doesn't it... I remembered it well. This car was previously for sale back in June of 2020, and is found on page 2 of this thread. I dismissed it then primarily because it was bright red with red interior, most certainly not my favourite combination. There were a few other things I did not like about this restored car, but the price seemed quite reasonable at $11,000. Clearly the current owner is out to make some money now, because the car is now up for sale again at $16,500. Couldn't help but notice that the current owner states the car is original, rust free, and has less than 40,000 original miles. The previous owner did not mention any of these things, so I am suspicious. Anyway I don't need any more Corvairs, but I still like to keep tabs on what is currently out there...

If I wasn't completely tapped out for money/space/time and think these are kinda ugly, I would still be hankering to take a look... What great, um, er, patina!!

Sooo, of course I have a decent Corvair now and don't need anymore. Obviously, that has not stopped me from still looking to see what is out there... I always knew that once I bought a Corvair, something potentially even better (or closer to what I really wanted) would show up for sale. And it looks like it happened... This is currently for sale on Marketplace... This is a 1966 Monza, in what appears to be the correct shade of Marina blue. Again, a Powerglide car, this one features a blue interior, which I much prefer to the white in my car. This one has the correct wheel as well, but the horn button once adorned a Corsa. Interior appears original and in very nice shape. I like the original dealer badge on the back. Despite the obscured plate, you can clearly see those are collector plates, so the car must be at least half decent. As an aside, I see Canadians are getting paranoid about visible plates in pictures. Are there really that many criminals with access to license plate databases??? They could probably look up your MINI visible in the same picture instead. Duh. Not the best picture in the world, but what you can see does look alright. This one is the common 110 engine and is adequate for this car. So, should I have waited and bought this one instead? The price is $12,500, which is not out of line. And located nearby in Surrey, too. If I didn't buy the one I have, I would have been all over this one for sure... If I win the lottery soon, I just might buy it anyway...

The above car is for sale once again on Marketplace. This time for $12,000, and he admits that there are rust bubbles in the corners of the doors (and probably other places). Still looks quite nice, and no I am not going to buy it... Now for something interesting... The previous old laptop I used to use has been sitting dead on the table for a few years and it was plugged in tonight to see if there were any files that might be retrievable. And indeed there was... Looky at that! This car was for sale in Duncan a number of years ago. At the time I was starting to look for Corvairs for sale, but was not in a position to buy one at the time. So what is special about this one??? Now that I know more about them, I can say it is a '65 Monza, that MIGHT be a 140 hp car (can't quite make out that HP badge on the back)... Ugly trailer hitch, but interesting old license place that looks '70's era. Not exactly mint, but it looks like this car is special in one particular way. And no I don't mean the boogered up quarter panel. The special part is that unusual colour. It appears to be the very rare "Evening Orchid" which is actually a light misty metallic purple! And here is one that still has shine. I like rare stuff and I know Rebecca would LOVE this colour. This car was quite cheap at the time and I wonder if anyone saved it???
