Sooo, this is currently for sale locally right now.... Tony spotted it awhile ago and let me know it was available. So what is wrong with it??? The usual. It is a RED CONVERTIBLE with a BLACK interior! My least favourite colour combo with a missing top. The ad states "really fine shape", but the pictures don't back that up. Nice hole in the roof, although apparently it comes with a new one. Where did the wipers and cowl cover disappear too??? On the plus side, there is a factory clock (fairly rare), and the four speed transmission. There were other pictures in the ad, but they were even worse quality then these crappy ones. This car is listed for $7000, and I can resist... I do actually remember seeing this one driving around in the past, however...

Sooo, another week goes by and yet another Corvair comes up for sale. And this one is interesting... Once again Tony spotted this before I saw it and let me know. This one is available in nearby New Westminster... You know that I like that colour, Mist Blue. The early design Chevrolet Rally wheels look good as well (rears too fat, though). Not sure about the lip spoiler... Maybe that spoiler would grow on me. The dent in it, not so much. Looks generally good up close too. Some damage to the trim, but fairly minor. Rear end looks clean, but something seems to be missing... The interior picture says it all. This car is actually the 500 model, which was the bargain basement Corvair when new. Although mechanically the same as the Monza, the trim level is VERY plain. Note the bench seat, boring steering wheel and horn button, and lack of any bright trim. The outside lacks the bright trim on the rear end, and wheel and rocker mouldings. Originally would have come with dog-dish hubcaps as well. Despite this car looking like one of the better ones and local-ish, my Corvair dream is still the Monza model and I can resist. Even though Don says I should BUY it now! One other thing about this car is that the Kijiji ad has an additional picture angle not shown here. It is not a JPEG format so is not here, but the picture shows the rear of the car on the left side, and the fit of the decklid and bumper look a bit suspicious. And the price is $13,500. Probably not out of line if the car is in as nice shape as the ad describes, but still not a Monza. Am I too picky???

As we get older I have started to think sometimes the right-now car is better than the right car. Jes sayin'.... Last I will say . Good luck!

Here's a truism to remember. "never let perfection get in the way of just good enough". It goes along with the research from interviews with people in a hospice situation that says the vast majority of people don't regret what they have done, they only regret what they never got around to doing. It also reminds me of another that says if you never try anything, you will never make any mistakes, but you also never accomplish anything either. Ain't that the truth? Stan

Sooo I have not posted any Corvair pics I have been drooling over lately... This is because I have not seen anything that has got me excited for some time. Then this showed up... Mmmm, I absolutely love that colour. Aztec Bronze is one of the less common colours, and is probably my second favourite after Artesian Turquoise... You know I like the looks of that. And it comes with the original hubcaps (shown), as well as the optional wire-wheel hubcaps (which I quite like)... This is a 1966 model, and there are a few differences to my '65. At the front the Chevrolet badge is blue (red in '65), and the Corvair name is on the front panel (hood in '65). From the back, the tailights are somewhat different (larger inner rings in '65). That paint sure looks nice and smooth... As far as I am concerned, Corvairs do not have a bad angle to them. This one does have an unfortunate modification... Those side marker lights are not original and certainly look it... Check out that interior! Matching bronze does it for me! Apparently the front seats have been redone, but the back is original. Nice match. Dash looks good. Only thing not factory fresh is the worn paint on the steering wheel. Pretty sure the 48,000 miles listed is the second or third time around... Otherwise looks very clean. I likey... Even very nice in the folding rear seat area... And look what is hiding in the back. That is the 140 HP version with the four carbs. Nice! This is teamed with the PowerGlide which I am ok with... I like ads that show unmolested data plates. So why have I not bought it yet??? The usual reasons. This one is on E-bay in Ohio for $19,500. If only...

This car does interest me as the ad states absolutely NO rust. The colour is great, but it looks like a near match as opposed to the stock Marina blue (assuming that is the original colour). Car is a Monza, with the rear panel painted like a Corsa. This is common, but I don't likey that. The towing apparatus on the front and back looks awful and would have to be removed. Inside the dash panel is from a Corsa, and the hideous steering wheel looks like a Camaro part. The seats need redoing, and if I had it they would be blue, not white. 1966 Corvairs feature a nicer interior than the '65's, and had more colours available. This is a Powerglide car with the optional 140hp four carb engine. Nothing wrong with that. This car is available in Kelowna for $14,000, and that does not seem out of line if the body truly is minty. If I had the time, I would certainly take a look at this one...
