Sooo, have I finished dealing with the last of the car's issues and has nirvana been achieved? Uh no. Got myself a broken but free pressure washer, and managed to fix it. Good, except that just opened up a whole bunch of "clean it up" jobs around both my house and my Mom's place. Damn...

Close, Tony. Triple O's in Nanoose. Yum yum, but damn expensive these days... Also had a visit with HighTop Rob, and bought some model cars in Coombs. A fun day driving around the Beetle for sure!

Sooo, I have been busy lately with boring non-VW stuff. But finally had time to have another look for my "odd" exhaust leak. The odd part is it did not leak at all when the same exhaust was on the old 1500. And it was still in excellent condtion when installed on the 1600, so what changed??? I could not find any leaks in the usual places, so had to go deeper. See that residue in the engine compartment? This was new, and looked like tiny rust flakes, and smelled like exhaust. Hmmmm. And there is the culprit. The heat riser decided to rot through below the generator. That is not very nice... Lots of things to take apart to swap that out for a good one. Now where do you find an original single port manifold in nice shape these days??? Continued...

Remeber that stash I got from Thompson's recently? Yup. Wondered what I would ever do with that good intake that came with the parts. Now I do...

Yup. Went in tonight. Wasn't that bad, but would rather be doing something else... Even up close, you still can't see much of anything. But there is a big rust hole between those two pipes. Bummer. Now to repaint the replacement, and install that sucker...

^^^^^ Sure. Didn't you know my middle names are Mickey and Mouse??? Actually I would like to say the '66 is all back together and on the road. But it ain't. This weekend I spent my time doing the #$*%$ taxes. At least I didn't leave it until the very last minute like usual. And like usual I still do it the old pencil and paper method and mail that sucker in. Because I can't help myself...
