Well a few weeks back I made a deal with Russ to purchas a project 66 Beetle from him. This is a numbers matching car, pearl white and pigalle red interior. Over the last couple weeks Russ and I have been meeting up and I started up gathering parts. Russ with no surprise meticulously disassembled this car took notes had it stripped and then dipped to rust proof. Many of the parts were bead blasted, The engine is complete and the transaxle has been rebuilt, and then the project stalled. Fast foward 30+ years and Russ mentioned this project to me at a meeting and I was immediately interested. We talked about it a few times so I went and took a look and next thing you know the deal is done. I have tons of work ahead but It is a clean virtually rust free body a small amount of body damage to flatten out but not much. A few parts found their way on to Russ's 66 beetle but he is doing his best to set me up with all the parts to complete the car. I have to decide just how far I want to go with it. I love my hot rods and customs but this one will be as close to stock as I can make it. I will start posting photos soon, once I have the Body, panels and pan home.

Yup. Sometimes you just gotta let things go. I have never had the motivation to put this back together and finally realised I never will. Now it is up to Rob to bring it back to life again. Wish him luck!!!
And I still want a Corvair...

The parts have been spread far and wide for this car over the last three decades. But it is all coming together... Except were did those damn rear brake drums disappear too???

Pretty amazing for 30 plus years of sitting.
More to come.

Cool. Knew it would start up for you. Last used in my 1970 Beetle as a temporary engine while I rebuilt the original. This was 1990/91...

Russ....is that Steve Browns old car? If it is, that was the coolest thing around back in the day. IMO

It was actually Kevin Browns old car. Steve Brown (no relation) had the turquoise Oval with Centerlines that we all lusted after... Steve's winter beater was a metallic green Oval with I think Empi five spokes on it. Steve's current project is a Volvo wagon. I have not even seen Kevin Brown once since college when I bought the car from him... And Frank, the only 6x9 holes in the Beetle were drilled into the aftermarket package tray behind the back seat. I think I threw that away decades ago as have not seen it for years... I do think there might be a tiny hole drilled below the dash for the wires for the speakers Kevin had stuck there. I think...

My mistake. It is the car I was thinking of. Kevin Brown. Now I’m trying to remember who Steve was.
