Sooo, it was finally moving day... Time to move the '66 for the first time in three decades... Where did all that time go??? First time outside. You can't see all the rat poops in this picture... Rob seems happy with what he loaded up. Good! Everything is now with him and all the paperwork complete. Now all he has to do is put it back together in less than 30 years! Piece-O-cake!

Thanks for posting that Brent, I'm super happy with the condition of this project. I have had someone tell me to just clear coat it.

The pan was exceptionally nice, wasn't it? Glad you are having some fun. I have even resolved to try harder to get back into my own projects...

It really is nice. I have looked it over exstensivly and found only 2 tiny spots that will get some welding for pin holes. It's amazing.

I have even resolved to try harder to get back into my own projects... But that would mean fewer mining and Cold War Mustie videos

Hi Guys been a little while since I posted about the sleeping beauty. I finally got the 66 in the garage to start working on the body. I had a painter come over to take a look. My plan was to turn the car over to get bodywork and paint done while I did the pan/chassis restoration but after talking to Aaron I came to realize I can't afford to just send it out for paint and body while I do the fun stuff. He figured 150 hours with bodywork, rehanging the doors fenders hood and decklid then painting inside out and underside of fenders and hood/decklid so with supplies it would be around $7500.00 honestly when I consider the amount of work his price is reasonable but too much for me right now. I had to figure out a way to save some cash so I will be tackling the bodywork on this one. It was time to move some things around and start beating on this thing so I made a dolly for my 68 and kicked it out to the driveway. Moved the 66 inside. I pulled out the hammers and dollies and I'm also trying out a shrinking disk for the first time. It's been a LONG time since I have done any body work and I feel it tonight. I spent a few hours working on the drivers side qtr panel that had some previous collision damage and my arms are pretty sore but I'm seeing progress. If Aaron needed 100 hours for the bodywork then I will take at least 300 hours but I have the time. Cutting and welding will be starting soon. Cheers

Good for you! I have yet to try my hand at panel beating. After the quotes I got for my Ghia a few years back, $7500 is really good. Does Aaron have his own shop, or does he work for someone else? What is his work like? Are you going to do the paint too? Also I like the name you've given it. Does Disney approve?

If you get real good at that bodywork, then you can come and do some for me too!!! It really is time consuming and expensive, and the only way around that is to do it yourself...

Arron does have his own shop and booth but has a day job. He calls painting a labour of love. His work is horrible. Looks like he paints with a tooth brush! Just kidding, I liked the work I have seen and one was quite a old job still flat and shiny. I think sleeping beauty seemed like a appropriate nick name. And no kidding about time consumig Russ. Even tools take time to prep before you can use them. I bought a set of hammers and dollies from Eastwood and they are pretty nice but were coated with a clearcoat that needed to be taken/sanded off and polished. The shrinking disk is pretty cool I had a little oil canning on the front qtr panel after banging on it for hours and a few minutes after useing the shrinking disk the panel firmed right up. I was going to order some patch panels but the ones I want are out of stock at cip1 and concept 1 at the moment. I asked Aaron if he wanted patch panels and he said no, that the damage was minor and he would just fab them himself but my skill set is not up to that yet. More to come.
