The bus looks reasonably solid, recent paint. I wonder if anyone will try to flip this one? Note: the interior has been removed and a new one is waiting to be installed. "The interior is not back in place, the photos were taken prior to their removal." "1973 Volkswagen Westfalia - $13500 (Gibsons)" vancouver.craigslist.ca/nvn/cto/4844283920.html

Flip? I dunno, kinda close the "retail" price already…or above! For that price I'd expect the interior to be in and look very nice. Not the most desirable year either.

I didn't say with good reason I guess I have a soft spot for '73 Westfalias, of course they don't have the incredibly convenient double upper bunk. I wonder what motivated them to remove the interior?

Is someone in Bellingham running a restoration business? "Volkswagen van wanted! - $1 (Bellingham) " "Hello, I am in the market for all VW vans Tin top, pop top, westfalia camper, weekender, riviera, it doesn't matter..." bellingham.craigslist.org/cto/4884340479.htmlI must say I am getting a bit sick of seeing all these VW Bus fishing ads. Probably because I didn't think of them first I kinda like the "thrill of the hunt", but feel a little like those willing to be a bit more crass about it are working to extinguish any possibility of coming across a "garage/barn find". Oh well, such are these computerized times...

This really bothers me!!! Where are these people coming up with these prices??? For $8000 you should be getting a running driving insurable driver!! Lets break this down for you... $8000 purchase price $1000 for the paper work more than likely will need an inspection $4000 for parts and misc. material (body panels interior...) $20000 200 hours minimum @ $100 per hour $3000 motor
total $36000

I think you are low on you totals there Karl, but I am in full agreement! Not to mention I am pretty sure that the green one came from Powell River, was on Airspeed forever until the owner just wanted it gone, got picked up by a con man and sold to the current owner at a healthy profit. Yes, $8K is ridiculous! But then again these are too in my mind: www.oldbug.com/curti70.htm with wrong arches for an early bay, wrong corner markers for a 70, slash rear bumper that belongs on a Splittie, and a whole host of aftermarket crap www.oldbug.com/cgraydc.htm could you like with this paint job? I couldn't! Even here where it is relatively cool in the summer, all black would be oppressive, graphics not withstanding!

I do like the green one, but what impresses me most is ... Dons eye on pieces that don't fit for the respected era.
