my $0.02 new webcam and solid lifters flush your oil cooler, new gasket set. Maybe new main/rod bearings - depending on any wear. throw in a double thrust cam bearing set 20w50 oil with ZDDP (zinc) additive added probably cost you (or builder) ~$700 cdn without main/rod bearings. (ps: i am running the 494 Webcam and it's a torque beast)
edit: those lifters are a mismatched set. builder used mismatched lifters and this is what happens when you use unknown parts. they wear differently. i bet not only are the lifters mismatched, i'd guess that the cam was not from the same engine as any of those lifters.

Perhaps pass on the info from Boris and Paul to your builder? I had never heard about that supplier....it is always great to see people sharing what has worked for them... Yeah, 3rd time better be the charm

honestly, Brent... once you get it back, if it were me, i'd take it apart and re-check everything. Make sure you get specs and receipts) for the cam and lifters

Honestly, it sucks, but the guy is holding up his end of the deal. I think taking apart a new motor would void warranty. Hind sight, maybe I should of tried building my own. At the time, it wasn't feasible. Right now, not willing to start throwing another grand here and another grand there ... I asked for a stock motor, and hopefully soon I'll get one. It is what it is, life is life, we live and we learn. I truly think some mistakes were made, and probably parts that failed. Sucks, but life goes on. I'm sure buddy will be extra careful as I'm sure he didn't want this to happen again. Moving on ........

I like your attitude to life Brent. I would be furious. I need to take a leaf out of your book.
I really hope he gets it right for you this time around.
