Omg, you broke into my house!!!! LOL Yes, there had been progress, and some pics were taken. Looks like the heart transplant is happening this weekend.
I've recently acquired a new desktop though, which is hooked up but not up to date for use. Hopefully I'll conquer that project too and fill you guys in soon.
Ps: thanks again Mr. Pictup 😉

How is it considered "breaking in" when requested parts from "the culprit's" stash are left behind?

Ok, here we go ..... So, as some of you know, I got my motor back. I installed it last Sunday. With a huge shout out to HighTopRob!!!!!! Considerable acknowledgement to Mike, Russ, and Spencer. So, I got the motor for Xmas, it came over on Friday night. Of course it went straight into the engine building shop. While it was away I stripped all the tin and repainted the parts more stock colors. I also modified some exterior trim parts too It really didnt look to shabby once it was all together. I had to wait for Xmas to be over, as there was festivities to attend, and weather to deal with.

The weather looked good for the following weekend so I had to set up the garage for the install I called Mike, my new VW neighbor over to give me a hand Strategically set tables up so we didnt have to carry the beast too far and got it to its final resting place for the next days install.

Rob came over around 10 and we were up to our armpits in typical motor install struggles by 10:30 Actually, it slipped in quite easy. we were pretty happy bout that. After three months of shuffling parts and pieces, it wasnt too bad finding parts and where they belonged. I had company over from Vancouver, Sara and her son Spencer. It was real awesome to watch the youngun jump right in and give us a hand Of course, with all installs, someones has to draw blood It was start up time and the efin thing wouldnt spark. Just then Russ pulled up. I was a bit relieved, and I had to break in the cam I think the motor saw him, cause when he looked into the engine bay, the efin thing started right up.

UpDate:
I installed electronic ignition after we got it set up and running. I couldnt for the life of me get it to run proper. I had it all over town, taking my company on Nanaimo tours while they were here. It ran fine, and I was like, wtf? So, I pulled the dizzy back out, and only thing I can see what might be wrong is what looks like scrape/tear/cut lines near the magnet pick up. Put spare dizzy in and it ran like a charm. Now Im farting around with points in my better distrib. This fine tuning shit frusterates me, but hey, Im doing it

Is the black magnetic ring rubbing on something? If your going to your points, make sure they are old and not recent Bosch. Their quality has taken a big dump lately...

Some have said that, and some have said Echlin brand. Keep in mind that Bosch condensers are considered crap now too. The old German made ones can last for decades...
