I have been informed that Harbourview Volkswagen in Nanaimo is having a special event this upcoming Wednesday (July 10th). For those that don't know, Harbourview has long had a collection of vintage VWs that only are occasionally on display. One is a split Deluxe Microbus that they have owned for some time and the very expensive restoration of it is finally complete. This is what will be "unveiled" on Wednesday. I believe this will be in the evening, but I do not have conformation on this yet. Supposedly there will be refreshments and maybe hotdogs too, but wait until I post more info... It would be cool if some more air-cooled's showed up, wouldn't it???

Russ can hopefully find out more details on Monday, but at VOLKSFEST today we were thinking maybe we should indeed do a mini meet there on Wednesday instead of our regular time/place(that is theoretically happens this Tues)...

I could be down for a mini-meet. '58 or Rally Bug? I'd say Rally, but I am sure most others would go with sleek '58 as it might "fit in" better. Your call though...which would be most fun to drive there?

Your call though...which would be most fun to drive there? Both are equally enjoyable, but different. The Rally Bug is essentially "more fun", but as I get older the prospect of it being impounded because in the blink of an eye you're 40+ over the limit is something I think about. Rally Bug at it's best has two settings, on the throttle hard...or on the brakes hard. Interestingly enough, even at performance car meets the '58 gets more eyes than the Rally Bug. I think most people just walk past it thinking it's "sticker bug" (as Geoff likes to call it).

Only a few pics. Too many people... lol! Very straight Bus...Notice the elusive Tony's(an even more rare sighting ) reflection Mike and Brent and Julian((?)hidden by door post) taking it in Reagh and Rob trying to find flaws Good metal work(I hope) and many, many, many hours of long board sanding were evident. Russ liked the whitewalls, didn't you Russ Russ and Tony noticed that the engine had barely been started, let alone run. hardly any pipe residue and a loose nut on the fuel pump were noted A 945km DoKa with automatic Nice Scirocco A happening evening...
