Sooo, I had to leave the house this weekend to get some meds (no, not for Covid), and pay a visit to the bank machine to pay those bills. (No online payment plans for me...) Yes, I used wipes and avoided everyone else. My kid came with me, as he was desperate to leave the house. On the way back, we decided to have a treat and get some fast food. We have to keep the economy sputtering along after all... So we chose A&W, and we chose poorly. Obviously, it is takeout only, and you cannot enter the store at all. First up was the guy taking the orders simply didn't listen to what I was saying and did not repeat back anything. Not surprisingly mistakes were made, and we ended up short a burger and fries. More importantly, I have ordered enough junk food in my time, to know that it takes a certain amount of time to cook and prepare your food. Our order was ready suspiciously fast. Once home this proved to be true. Victor bit into his chicken sandwich, which was still clucking as it was so RAW!!! The rootbeer was flat and room temperature, and was completely undrinkable. I can't help but wonder, that with no customers on the inside, they are pre-cooking the food and letting it sit out far too long. Yes, I phoned to complain, and mysteriously the line was always busy. And no reciepts were given either.. I know times are difficult, but that meal was inedible. Won't be returning there again... Rant over. For now...

Is there something wrong with your hearing now Russ? I think if the chicken was still clucking you would have heard it, wouldn't you have? Next time go to Lee's Chicken

It was quite nice out this afternoon. So time to get the bus out for a cruise! And cruise we did, as we did not really want to stop anywhere and be near anybody! Did talk to a guy in my friend Terry's neighbourhood (from a distance of course), who had what looked to be a highly original tired '66 Beetle in his front yard. Turns out his Granny had it new, and it spent most of it's life in Colorado. Her name was Eva, and the current owner is intending to convert it to an EV (get it?). There is a lot more of this type of thing going on than I would like to admit, but someday this might be the only option we have.... Now lets just get past this Covid thing... Meanwhile the Terseo waits for me to getting some ICBC basic insurance for it. When I am ready to start driving it, that is. Strange times now that everything is done via phone. My updated stickers and paperwork for my next year of collector plate insurance is still in the mail. They assure me the cops cannot give a ticket for not DISPLAYING proof of insurance right now. Hope that is true... And the '62 is getting it's battery charged up, in anticipation of some mild cruising. I guess all we can do is go cruising, because we can't hang out together... Bummer. Stay safe, everyone...

Oh, and I almost forgot. Surely this is a sign that I am starting to lose my mind. Look what was in my Westfalia storage box between the seats. A HALF-EATEN bag of chips and a opened Coke!!! WTF! I would NEVER leave an open bag of chips and half drunk bottle of Coke around. And for SIX months! ARRRRGGGGHHHH! For scientific purposes, I may have had a few bites...

I like the updated paint job on the RestFalia. The lattice effect works well on the orange....

A little late reply but I am occasionally working for Ferries (not officially laid off just on call as a casual) but most of the time at home doing the spring yard work and projects. I recently started an ambitious project of restoring the old pop top on my Bus which has led to some other ideas. Such as painting the top half of the old girl. I'll be putting some photos on a different thread of the work in progress. Cheers and hope all are well!

I drank the rest of that 6 month old Coke today. It was actually still quite tasty... Also drove the GTI extensively this weekend and it was ok. Then I drove the '62 Beetle around the block and immediately smiled. I guess interests DO change with time. I am sure I enjoyed fixing up the GTI more than I actually liked driving it. I have also been spoiled with Honda five speeds for too long now, and the old notchy Mk 2 VW gearboxes just don't compare. Hmmm.

Apparently there was a car "event" of some sort this weekend. It seems someone organized a cruise through Nanaimo that ended up by the hospital to show support for the health care workers. It sounds as if waaay more cars then they anticipated actually showed up and this caused some problems. My Dad was there and said the two organizers were freaking out as some people wanted to get out of their cars while waiting, and that was a big NO-NO and a fineable offence due to the size of the "gathering". This event was also organized via Facebook, and as usual, if you are not part of that platform, information was hard to come bye. Dad said the route intended for the cruise was not understood by some, and not followed as expected, and no body knew when it was supposed to start. He did say it was fun however, and the organizers hope to do this again...
I happen to know several air-cooled VWs attended this event, yet nobody thought to put links onto this site for details. I heard about it quite late via second hand info. Hopefully for the next time around, those people who are aware of these things via other social media platforms will perhaps share that info with the rest of us here... Please.

I am a somewhat reluctant member of Facebook because it seems like the best place to sell things these days. I don't explore it much and find the platform/organization frustrating to say the least. I am sure it has mostly to do with user error.... Anyhoo, a member from here sent me a text screen shot describing the route, but it failed to mention WHEN it was happening. He said he sent me an invite, but I never got one...and I even tried looking, but gave up. Guess I don't have the IQ for FB
