Lol, I'm very active on FB (have to be, for the business) and I have no idea what event you guys are talking about. The FB algorithms can be quite confusing!

Then maybe I'm not quite as dumb as I look? In a few weeks maybe we should follow suit as a club? If we just posted it here and got Bavarian and Wrapture involved, we could have a no-stop, in-your-car Cruise-In. It'd be quite the line of VW's and other foreign makes. Heck we could even get donations going for a giant front-line worker coffee/donut fund thru Paypal or something. Any thoughts?

Sooo, here is a little more info about the previously mentioned event. It was sponsored by "Cars 4 COVID". This was organized as an opportunity to actually get our cars out for some sort of event; to give thanks to the health professionals, and raise some money for COVID research by buying a "Cars 4 COVID" sticker. So how did it go? As previously mentioned there were some issues, and the organizers have listed what went wrong on their Facebook page. You can see it here: www.facebook.com/cars4covid/. If you don't want to go there, the just of it was that the expected 60 cars was more like 130 plus. This causes some problems as the cruise was to start at a specific time, to allow the cars to cruise past the hospital during shift change. For whatever reason, nobody listened to that, and most people started too early, and many did not follow the intended route. More importantly, people kept getting out of their cars at the start which was a big no-no. It did not help that the general public was not exactly social distancing either. The organizers have made it clear that the fine is $25,000 for having a "gathering" with more than 50 people, and people MUST stay in their cars AT ALL TIMES. Despite these issues, the organizers would like to do this again, and have set the date for Saturday May 2. I will attempt to update this when we get closer to that date. I have one added thing to say about this. Apparently the cruise "ended" in Cabella's parking lot. Once again people got out and started chatting. For an event of this type to be acceptable; once the cruise ends, you gotta leave. Sucks, but that is the current reality here... Anyway, lets hope the next event runs smoother, because if it doesn't, it will likely be the last...

It'll end up being 200+ cars now I'll bet. I did finally find on FB where I was told about it...it was under the notification bell...duh.

My cars are socially distanced. They are parked in separate garages and neither is ready for the road yet...

So due to the rainy forecast, the Cars 4 COVID cruise is postponed for tomorrow in Nanaimo. They are intending to do it on May 9th instead. I will give the link for details when the time comes...

Maybe a new thread should be started so you could update it...and other, non-facebook, people could find/see it

That would be me. I wonder if a 2017 Jetta would count as a vehicle allowed to honour our first responders? Stan

OK, working on the rear brakes, lines and hoses, and I've had a brilliant idea. I know how NASA and possibly Elon Musk could make rockets and outer space vehicles much stronger and hold together during all the violent shaking on take off, travelling outside the earth's atmosphere and the heat during re-entry. Make them out of mild steel, spray on a light coating of salt water and let it sit on an ocean front piece of property for a few months/years. Rust is incredible stuff welding parts together in a forever grip. grrrrr Stan

My year has gone from crazy busy, to life in the slow lane. I finally have some time back to myself again. I completed my marine pilot license in April, moved out of my Vancouver work apartment and into one in Victoria. In my spare time, I finished the driveway widening project that I started last year. This involved removing four large, slightly rotten, driveway lifting cedar trees last year, excavating the dirt and then building the stone wall along the side of the driveway. This allows us to park my father in law's boat or travel trailer at the side of our house. It also gives me much easier vehicle access into my rear garage. I also redid one of the bathrooms. Plumbing, tile, shower etc, etc. Yesterday, I finally got stuck back into the Split. I adjusted the brakes, fixed my low beams which had mysteriously gone out last year (Bad connection where the feed splits off from the main line to the two headlights, behind the driver's side headlight) and attempted to repair the very worn out cargo door latch. I think that I'll be looking for a replacement.

Great looking bathroom and stone wall. I see the white "ripply" tile behind the sink. Used the same tiles behind the sink in ours. Stan

They're really nice until you hit a corner. The ripple is only identical at the ends of the tile or where you cut it. Thankfully this was the one true corner in the whole house!

Ah yes, I remember I finally figured out how to "flip" a couple of them so they would match at the corners. Stan

I used the same tile, but (had them)installed vertically. Worked swimmingly. I was busy on trim and the deadline was approaching, so kudos to those that did it themselves
