Here is a late Oval in basic black. Couldn't help but notice most of the Oval owners didn't bother to fill out their registration cards so I am only guessing at the years of their cars!
The same car featured some nice accessories including the Motorola radio and vintage fuel gauge.
Another two-tone, this time a Bahama Blue and white '66.
A basic Pastel White '72 SuperBeetle.
You just know it would be fun to take this '69 Baja out for some fun in the boonies.
And here is Mitchy's '67 with its very vibrant paint and rather large "Mondo" muffler on display. He has a lot of fun driving this I am sure...
This '58 featured some interesting black rims with the thin red lines on them. Quite distinctive.
Betcha Frank loved this '80's peach colour on a '65 Beetle...
A silver Oval on chromed Fuchs.
If you don't like shiny, then this patina Coral '57 would be to your liking... This time on chrome five spokes.
I can no longer keep my eyes open tonight, so the rest will be completed tomorrow... Still lots more to go...

Don didn't buy this early bay interior, not sure if anybody did. They were asking $700. It was in fairly good shape, driver's seat was worn but quite usable. Last year he bought a late bay interior for the same price.

Here we go again...
This black '57 is owned by Clay who I believe has had it forever it seems.
This Royal Red '68 is also a regular at this show and is very nicely done.
Dash is nice too. Like the VW towel.
You don't see many late buses with the big Fuchs on them, do you? This is a '78.
This bright blue Beetle is a '60, and also features the big Fuchs style rims.
A yellow '61 with "regular size" Fuchs and lots of other accessories.
Another '59, this time a bit ratty and slammed.
Modified things are not that common. This one is a 1974, the final year of production for these.
This late Oval's owner is mining for original paint under there...
This early Notchback was looking nice in white with red interior. I meant to go back and take a closer look, yet somehow forgot to do that...
This Oval convertible was dripping with all kinds of options of the very expensive kind... Needs some paint in my opinion...
More to come...

The interior dripped with extras, but were hard to photograph through the closed windows. I guess the owner didn't want drool inside...
Another black Oval with "broken" suspension...
And here is the only water cooled car that I took a picture of. Another Bombardier built Iltis like Don's, this is a 1985. I got into an argument with some guy at the show who claimed this should not have been here because it was not a VW... Uh really???
This '72 was once Sierra Yellow, but had the fake patina thing going on. That nose treatment was a bit different...
Just a few Porsche replicas, although the green one is very nice...
I admit these are not my thing at all, although I have driven one before with a decently built motor, and it was quite fun...
How about a high quality fibreglass Beetle body instead? Imagine driving a spit window Beetle year round and not having to worry about rust!?!
It is hard to find different wheels from everyone else these days, but these Western alloys are not seen very often. This is a '69.
This faded black Beetle was a '64.
There is always stuff to see out in the parking lot. This Velvet? Green panel looked quite decent, but was screaming out for its VW emblem to be reinstalled!
This late bay looked tough riding on Eurovan rims.
Yet another two-tone Beetle, this time a '65 which was decent.
A '71 panel in Chianti Red with Jalousie windows added at some time in its life. Those rub strips are something else...
Good advice as seen on a Toyota in the parking lot...
Still more to come...

Are those Western alloys the same as on the Orange Super Beetle where they are black?

The FINAL batch!!!
This Oval dash split Beetle showed up a bit late and chose to stay in the parking lot. Not a good idea mixing shiny black cars with all that dust...
This very rare Type 3 Karmann Ghia also showed up late. This one was even more rare being a European spec with automatic transmission. I think the owner said it was one of 17 built that way. These cars always look better in person than they do in photographs...
A '71 Deluxe in an unusual colour. Battleship Grey???
These two old well loved splitties were owned by some of the organizers of the show.
This '66 Ghia was spotted by Mark in the parking lot, so had to be investigated.
This '54? Oval had very faded paint but was once my favourite Strato Silver.
This bright blue '67 also showed up quite late to the show.
The weather was nice all day until the trip home. After Cobble hill, it started to rain. A LOT!!! Mark's Ghia probably wishes it was back in the sunny UK after a trip like this!
Overall it was a great show and lots of nice cars and people to BS with. It was good to talk to people in person for a change to (Tom, Mitchy, and Wongai). We will be back next year of course!!!

Thanks Russ, great pics and commentary. Always too much to take in, nice that we can revisit. Who won the People's Choice Award? Though it was tough to decide on one, I went with Harley's Devon camper, a living Matchbox toy, perfect in every detail, clean as a whistle and you have to love that one wheel AllState trailer!

Well, it is a Dormy top and Westy interior. A full Dormobile would have a Martin Walter(sp?) interior. Dormobiles are English campers and Westies are German. I am sure the collaboration drew the ire of a few even at that stage

Thanks for all your work with the pictures Volktales. Man there are some nice cars out there! Awesome too see you guys. I regret that I failed to meet Mitchy. Next time man!
And a special thanks to HTR for retrieving my little girl's shoe from the parking lot and delivering it back to Mill Bay. She was happy to get her favorite shoe back.
PEACE! B

I gotta admit, it took me way longer to figure it out than it should have. I thought it was kinda like "lead". Like "PB FOOT" D'oh!
