Holidays started Sunday, so it's time to tour, VW bus style. Packed up most things Saturday night, to try and get an early start, but didn't have the motivation. By the time it came to leave, it was 2-3 ferry waits, but I wanted to basically start my trip to the interior from the mainland. Made it as far as Hope that night. I'll let ya know one thing for sure, don't sleep at the tourist info booth. Too frickin noisey!

Which highway did you take to Penticton? The Hope-Princeton was not very busy at all when we went through that way. And Manning Park was cool.

Yea, I usually take the "Hope-Princeton". Love the scenery better than the racing Coq. After a crappy sleep, was off nice and early. So early I beat the child unit there, so GB and I had some time to kill. Went and found the dog park on Skaha lake, just south of town GB cooling off ... Three Mile Beach, on Okanagon Lake, the back side on your way to Naramata nice lil spot ...

Ah, the dry interior. Hey look, it's a Sage Green Camper with Sagebrush bushes in the background! Reminds me of my time spent as a youth in Oliver in the south Okanagan. Great to see Goldberg taking a refreshing dip!

I remember driving though the dry heat of the interior with my dog years ago and not having enough water. Be sure to fill up for you and Goldberg. The van looks awesome BTW.

Made it to my furthest eastern point yesterday. The good ole downtown of the hamlet of Spruceview! The Icefields were amazing.... Will be posting more soon. 1500 kms down, and probably close to another 1500 to get home. Bus is running great!

A good testament to all the hard preparation work you put in! Sounds like you are having a blast doing with your Bus exactly what VW meant its owners to do!

Hey Brent, can you describe what it's like to drive a 70s Westfalia through the Rockies in 2015? Enjoying the posts.

@ 2500 kms, and broken down for second time today. First time I was heading up hill and it started sputtering and died just like last year. Got it pulled over to a safe spot, opened the motor hatch and saw my coil flopping next to belt and wheel. Found bolt and re attached but still didn't start. Upon further investigation, found the pulley had wore thru the positive wire of my electronic ignition. Simple splice and we were off. Now I ain't getting anything when I try starting it after feeling up. I've driven for probably over 8 hours and I'm thinking I'm having the same issue that I had on my previous cross Canada automatic bus. Over heating of the starter selanoid ... So off me and GB go for a walk and hope that I'm right. Lucky for me I'm only 6-8 blocks away for my buddy, the retired mechanics house in Kelowna

You need to slow down your typing and check your auto correct. Read what you posted... I am assuming your coil fell off...

Good assumption! Now any idea why my van won't start? Gonna head back up to see it soon and jump the starter selanoid with a jump wire. If i can get it started, I'll get it here to buddies shop and take a closer look. Too efin hot in the 7-11 parking lots to play
