Been scanning some more old photos... How about Volkfest from 13 years ago at the old Tillicum Mall location...
This splitty camper was not even in the show, but was interesting. Ratty cars were NOT cool then. Wonder if the dog liked that trip from Quebec...
An unusual buggy with a great set of slot mags; mixing and matching whitewalls and letters kind of weird...
A European Doka, Synchro with narrow but knobby tires. Probably worth some big bucks today... Looks like the much rarer 16 inch model too.
This slammed panel probably had one of the earlier narrowed beams. Odd to find a big gaping hole in the roof too.
By 2002 I had been working at Bavarian for a couple of years and Bay windows started to interest me. Check out the rims on this one.
This creation was seen at a lot of car shows in that era and was built from a lot of Beetle parts in the body anyway...l
A chopped top thing. Not my thing...
This '55 was a long term Victoria car. Is currently being heavily modified by an occasional poster to this site.
I really liked this Bay and I believe it was for sale at the time and was over TEN GRAND! Seemed like huge money then...
This black Beetle was stock and very nicely done. It may still be around.

I must have really liked this '65, to have taken two shots of it. I think it was the minty green metallic colour that did it for me.
Now someone can correct me about this, but I am sure I used to see this poor old Beetle on a used car lot in Victoria in the early '90's, and it was a victim of the parts pinchers. It seems a lot of the emblems had been swiped as it sat. Sad.
This Oval was nicely done and looked tough on those chrome rims.
This Mk III GTI belonged to my co-worker at the time. Like many young people into the water cooled scene, he changed cars every few weeks and was always putting parts on, taking parts off... Of all the dozens of VWs he went through, this was always my favourite.
Another shot of that Oval, so I guessed I liked it too.
Early Audi Quattro's were interesting even then. I clearly remember this one had paint so fresh that you could smell it curing!
And finally here is a very poor shot of Peter Beltgens '67 Beetle. This nicely done car was always one of my favourites. Too bad I ruined the photo in those far off pre digital days... Hope you all have enjoyed another trip down memory lane...

This is by far my favourite thing I've come across on the internet in the past little while... The first pic of a split bus is my current daily driver! Any more pic of it would be greatly appreciated!!! Sweet!

I wonder if this is the same '65 you were digging in 2002? This one's a sunroof, can't tell from your photos if that other one was or not. Attachments:

That would be sad if the same car. I think the other one did not have a sunroof, and had a white steering wheel, but then that could have been changed. Where are those cars sitting???

They were in Victoria. The '65 is sitting in my garage now, along with a solid '58 from the same spot. Both are available for purchase, btw. The white baja's future is undetermined, and the other cars are going to a new storage solution (he doesn't want to sell those ones).

I do have a thing for 1958-1959 Beetles. I own two '59s, but they are quite nasty examples that are highly unlikely to see the road again. I owned a '58 Canadian Custom for awhile, but unfortunately had to let it go (very looooong story). I have far too many projects as it is, but I would like to hear more about your '58...

I've had a few '58s through the years...not bad for big windows... This one is solid, but not perfect. I haven't done any poking around yet but I know there's minimal rust. Needs fenders painted and bolted back on, has some minor dents from long term storage, and needs a transaxle and engine. Interior doesn't look too bad (not original though) and has all four colour matched rims. Easy project to get back on the road and fantastic foundation for a real looker. I think last month was "green car month" though. There was a green dunebuggy in my garage when these two showed up. Attachments:

Pictures? Given that I have a tendency to ALWAYS restore my VWs to their original colours, what is the original colour of the '58. I have some favourites, and some that I don't want...

Original colour looks like it was Agave, but will have to check under better light. Those are the only photos I have at the moment, was planning on getting it inside then taking more.
