Took these photos six years ago. Might have another look... That is a second generation like I want. But in better shape obviously... An earlier two door... Four door in the back. There was at least one more buried in the blackberries that was too difficult to see. Since I am having great difficulties finding a good Corvair, I might have to accept some level of project. At least one of these might make a good parts car, and all these are likely available for cheap...

What is interesting about the above car, is that it has been converted to fuel injection. Note the twin throttle bodies, which I assume one injector in each one. I also see a coil pack system, so the distributor is no longer used for that purpose. A map sensor is located on the firewall. Although normally I like original only, this is intriguing... This car has been colour changed however, as under the hood is still Willow green. It does appear to be a Canadian spec car which is what I would prefer. The Power-Glide automatic is not my favourite, nor is the black interior. But it does look in decent shape, and is available for $8500 which does not seem out of line. And I am even OK with those Chevy Rally wheels...

The first Corvair I fell in love with over 30 years ago was this exact spec and colour. So yes I am definitely ok with Gold, or Sierra Tan as the official colour is known. Still am having no luck at finding ANY Corvairs for sale in BC lately...

Sooo, this is currently for sale in Ontario... Mmm, I like that colour... Those wheels are obviously not original, but I DO like them very much! Nothing wrong from this angle either, although those seats don't look quite right... At first glance this looks great. The Corsa extra gauges are nice and I could live with the white interior. But wait, why is that big-ass console and shifter mounted there??? ARRRRRGGGGHH! A stupid V-8 conversion, and a front mounted one at that! Look how those inner fenders have been tastefully hacked up to accommodate that boat anchor! And supposedly this was done to a nice rust free car as well... The ad states it was "Doon right" as well and could be yours for $14,500! I think I can pass...

Yet another one that I am still dreaming about... It is the last year of production, a 1969 model Monza. I like the Frost Green colour as well. This car is listed as having an older restoration. Original dealer badge is kind of interesting too. Interior is matching green as well. This colour combo is not for everyone, but I like it very much. I don't want black or white interiors in my cars... The late '60's "safety" steering wheel in these models is not as nice as the '65-'66 version however... This car even has the optional four carburetor 140 hp engine which is fine by me. The turbo cars were not available in '69 anyway. The price of this one seems reasonable at $12,500 as well for this 50,000 documented mileage car. So why have I not bought it yet??? Because that is US dollars, and Kansas is not exactly next door to Nanaimo, is it??? Bummer.

That looks nice - way better than the gold member... Is there no way of having the car inspected by a third party when you find the right one? There must be Corvair specialists and enthusiasts who would be interested in this for a fee?

I have a very good friend who is a Corvair nut (owns two), works for Hagerty, and hails from Kansas.
...just sayin'.
Now, he *is* in Traverse City Michigan at the moment, but I can check to see what his Thanksgiving and Christmas plans are.
