I found this Coleman Stove circa 1970 at a church sale a while back. It came with a half empty can of Coleman fuel. It looked like it had been used only once, all the heat paint inside was intact. Original manual, price tags and receipt were still in there from Capital Iron. A guy in front of me thought $10 was too much! I scored a gem. Although it has the inferior Schrader style valve it works fine and served us well on a Westfalia adventure.

Very cool Tom. Probably the exact one we took camping all those years ago…

Don! Your home movies are brilliant. I think you had the better stove valve. I like your dad's hat.

Brent, I have one of those vintage stoves too, belonged to my grandfather. There isn't much to them, you need to take them apart and clean them nicely. That valve style is really solid, later replaced by the Shrader valve somewhere from the 60s until recently when they went BACK to the old type. Some of the new ones run on gasoline as well, once upon a time white gas, or naptha, used to cost pennies a tin. Now $20 a Canadian gallon!

Hey Don I noticed the only piece of wood you were able to chop was the large first piece , was it a piece your dad already chopped and you just taped it together so you would look good cutting it so effortlessly hahahah I don't really remember, but probably. I have found tape to continue to be useful when it comes to my inadequacies Mmmmmm, bacon and eggs. Still love them. It's gotta be something that gets ya!

I saw this for sale and thought it looked like the one that came with Russ's Dorper. The Primus 2069 came from Sweden and used an odd size blue can of gas. Could it be adapted to use those standard green propane cans?

That is similar to mine, but mine doesn't have yellow on the top. Can't remember what colour it is at the moment...

Picked this up at a rummage sale for 10 clams. Coleman Model 5423-701, looks hardly used and the manual says "1965." Works great. Did Coleman even sell propane stoves in the 60s? Can't find out much about it on the Interwebs:

Pretty cool, never knew. I googled it and see there's a few for sale online, but not that cheap! Congrats, but I still love my white gas 50's style!

Yes, I agree Brent, but white gas is pretty expensive these days. I wasn't going to buy this one, however, when I saw the condition and heard the price, I couldn't refuse

Can't find out much about it on the Interwebs: I have an almost identical one, but never thought it would be that old. I have the Coleman carry bag for it and an original stand in it's box. I can't find a date on the unit or the instruction manual though. Mine sees regular seasonal use as our only camping stove. It was a cheap garage sale find 10 years ago.
