Yes it is time to bring up this topic. We have a confirmed date and venue! Things have been going on behind the scenes to secure a new site and time. Both my bosses have offered up the shop parking lot for the venue, and will supply both potable toilets and intend on arranging the availability of food. This may be in the form of a food truck of some type. To make things more interesting, the owner of Wrapture Customs, across the road from the shop, is interested in organizing something as well for his customers, which feature a lot of very interesting vehicles. This part is not fully confirmed yet, but is in the works.
If things work out as planned, there should be a lot of things to see this time around. Bavarian's parking lot can hold 60 plus cars inside the compound alone, so space is not much of a concern. We still have all of the door prizes saved from last year, and some new stuff as well to give away. Bavarian has promised some goodies as well, so our previous format should work again. And as before, this is a FREE event!
More info will be added as it comes in, but please mark JUNE 9th on your calendar, and lets hope for GOOD weather this time!!!

This date was chosen to avoid clashing with other must attend events like the Parksville/Nanoose swapmeet, and the huge Father's Day show in Qualicum. Hope as many of you as possible can attend...

Good job, Russ! Great to have "the bosses" come 'round. Now that there are 2 air cooled vehicles in Jeff's possession, I guess it seemed "right" . And I hear Wrapture's owner has a new ACVW he will be anxious to rev up in a crowd too. Just to reiterate, even though this event will be held on private property, we still hope to run it as per usual with a token prize for all that attend with a VW. I will be sending out a mass email soon for those not monitoring the site....

Sounds like a great event and venue! Regarding the "potable toilets" does that mean you can safely drink out of them?

Sounds like a great event and venue! Regarding the "potable toilets" does that mean you can safely drink out of them? That was a good spelling mistake... I guess a real potable toilet would be considered "green", wouldn't it???

Crap. I'm working that weekend. 🙄 How unusual.... Sorry to hear that Mark. Maybe Stan could drive your Bus Anyhooooo, I better get on it to have something ready myself. I guess that is one of the drawbacks of an early show after an unproductive winter, lol Okay Don, stop ur whining...

Muggles. I like it! So a Mudblood must be someone stuck on the fence between VWs and other marques?
That is likely my last week with BCF. I get home on 12th June, so only miss it by a few days. Dad is also arriving on 12th June.
Oh well, there's always next year...

Kieran, the owner of Wrapture Customs, has also just joined our ranks with the purchase of a Fastback! This is his first air-cooled VW and he has a learning curve ahead of him... Things are still being organized and our sign from previous years will be updated and placed outside of the shop... We will have a lot to talk about at our regular meeting next week at a special location...

Working to absolutely finalize all the plans, but start time is usually around 10 and we go to around 3... It never hurts to show up a bit earlier so we can get parking done. This week's meeting will help to finalize more details.

So here is an update: There may have been some confusion after our last meeting, but here is the plan... Our MIACVW Cruise-In will be the same format as we have done previously. The venue will be Bavarian's parking lot as discussed. At the same time, Wrapture Customs across the road will be putting on their own show, and the intent is to feature "Euro" cars, which to us will mean water-cooled later stuff. Depending on how many vehicles show up, they likely will be sharing Bavarian's lot too. We will make sure our air-cooled VWs are together. As this is the first time for this type of event for us, we are going to wait and see how it turns out. Jeff and Klyntt, Bavarian's owners are supplying portable toilets and a food truck has been confirmed. The shop's customers are being notified of this event, and it is possible that there might be more "walk-ins" then we have seen before. Our modified sign should be ready soon, and an event flyer is in the works...
More info to come... And if there are any questions, please post them here...
