I am happy the Bus will be used and loved as intended. The wait has just made the result that much better As to fuel lines, I will have a look at them with a more critical eye and we can figure out a way to proceed. I have only replaced the fuel filter(near the pump) and that one suspect line into the injector because I have yet to wash the engine compartment(it has been vacuumed only). Strangely there is no water hose at my shop so it will have to wait until it comes home, unless I can rig something up to the sink. But I will have a look.

It is down to the rear fiddly bits on the Westy now, appearance-wise anyway. Got a few more things installed The WCM Pop Top seal gave me LOTS of problems to make it look good aesthetically. So you know what I did? I said screw it, I think I have the Bus Depot one that everyone on the samba likes because it looks more original and doesn't need glue. This is how I was trying to join the WCM one to the side seal…YUCK! Sorry for the blurry pic... This is the BD seal that grips with the clips inside the rubber And this is how it ended up looking with the BD seal. It looks low cut off, but that's only if you are 7 feet tall. It looks proper when the top is popped

Thanks for the offer Russ, but I went ahead and bought a new LOBRO CV. The other one on the axle looked okay. Chris at Vic VW says the quality of the axles is hit and miss, so I went for quality Polished the pop top around the sides today….mmm shiny and smooth

The Lobro brand is the type we used for years and were fine. Their boots seemed to last too. Boots branded KOK are junk and will look worse then your 40 year old VW boot in a couple of years.

This is where it gets even more shiny…because of the grease though! CV's on and ready for greasing: Grease, grease and more grease. Laurie was my willing helper. I think because it is cool(er) in the shop, lol! Installation with my old school torque wrench …. incidentally bought at Johnny's Speed and Chrome when I went thru LA in my 70 Westy back in 88 In place. No clamp on the inboard axle because the pinch clamp would not go on. Funny because that is the same as pinch clamp that went on the LOBRO boot. Made a radio block off plate to complete the cab After a good clean this space will sport something….
