This is to introduce a new short term project. Peter has owned this car for a long time, but it has not seen the road since 2004. What I will be doing is a basic re-commissioning of the car and get it back roadworthy again. The good thing is it has been in a nice dry garage the whole time, and hopefully it will be a straightforward job to make it live again... Now if photobucket will co-operate, then some pictures will follow...

Still working on getting stupid Photobucket to co-operate. It is so overrun with advertising now, that it really sucks to use...

Do we have to start a Russ' Photobucket"Go Fund Me" campaign?

I'm in! I don't even have paid plan, but I stand to gain more by Russ having a paid plan. PS - that's my new catch phrase smiley. Not all of us can be pirates. B

Still struggling with Photobucket. It keeps rejecting certain pictures for no obvious reason, is far to slow to be of use, and on top of that logs me out when it feels like it. Between that, my bathroom falling apart, and my Dad driving me mental, this is shaping up to be a stellar week so far...

Ok, here are some pictures that Photobucket reluctantly accepted... (now back via Imgur)
Here she is, a Ruby Red 1964 Deluxe Beetle. Very original in its appearance too. The wheels have been repainted at some time, as they would have had black centres in 1964. Check out those big knobby bias ply snow tires on the back. These are genuine Volkswagen Canada Golden Milers. The owner intends to replace the aged cracked tires with new radials...
The engine is the correct 1964 1200 that is believed to be the original to this VW. The carb and fuel pump have been replaced at some time, but otherwise is unmolested. Note the t-fitting in the fuel line between the pump and carburetor. This is the take of point for the original "Perfection" brand gas heater that is mounted under the front hood. Believe it or not, the fuel line is routed through the roof of the car, under the headlining!!! Have never seen this before. 1964 was when gas heaters started to be standard on Canadian spec VWs, and were not Eberspachers or Wesbastos at first.
If it wasn't for the success of the car in the foreground, then the one in the background would not exist. VW needs to be reminded of that these days...
Safely inside the garage, ready for work to commence. At least once I fix my Dad's latest T-bird incident...

Lets just say that I knew someone would bring that up... If it was mine, I would remove those "lids", and stick some whitewall tires and correctly painted rims on it. I hope to start on it Wednesday night, and get a parts list ready. It will get a new six volt battery, hard start relay, and brake flex hoses for sure, as well as the usual fuel lines, filter, oil, valve adjust, etc. I am betting it will fire up just fine...

man - that thing is sweet! Looking forward to seeing it in person. I have no idea how you manage to get your own fleet taken care of when you are always helping others. So many cars!

Pffft, they are all in the garage happy and dry, whereas that poor Fasty sits outside, even after doing all that DD service
