As some of you know, I'm about to embark on a summer long road trip. Hope to be on a ferry tonight. I have a few specific engagements I'll be shooting for, (a couple VW related campouts and a wedding) but mostly just hitting the road and experiencing #buslife. I've followed a few ppl in social media that have become minimalists and live and travel in their vehicles. It looked intriguing, and since I love camping, driving, and spending time in my bus, I figured I should try it out

So, got on a 3:15 ferry out of Duke Point. Thanks to Harry at Bavarian who strongly suggested the route straight to Hwy 1. Gotta luv the straight shot with no freakin hills. Though I missed the turn off, on to the hwy, it was a slight detour. Did a nice cruise out to Hope. Stopped for gas, and a GB pee break. Bus definately is loaded down and struggles on the hills. This first shot was taken by a fellow VW bus owner just outta Abbostford

Made it as far as Manning park the first night. Nice quiet evening to sit around a campfire. No cell service, no wifi, just peace, quiet and time to just be..... After a good night sleep it was onward to Kelowna. Another stop I do is Bromley rock, just outside of Princeton. Greta place to stretch your legs and get somw fresh air, and of course, let the bus cool off a bit I have a good friend in Kelowna I worked with decades ago, which is a great place for me to do some maintenance, and visiting. Hell, we worked together in a garage, whet better way to hang out years later. Probably heading out today to do some Kelowna sight seeing, then off to Cranbrook on Mon or Tues. Ill keep ya posted.

I'm currently in Kelowna, and weather is still hit and miss but the forecast is nothing but summer after Monday. The valve cover is off and checking them this am. Door worked fine ( I also had a spare to test). Heading to Summerland on Tuesday to find a brain to swap/check Bus runs fine, but won't rev over 3200 rpm. Sucks on these hills
Really looking forward to seeing you at camper jam ....

So .................. While in Kelowna, I found time to install my newtome tach. Had one just like it in my green tintop. (ps:thanks Russ for cutting the hole) Did a lil sight seeing I left Kelowna, bound for Kikomun Creek Provincial Park to join up with some of the Traveling Type 2's of Alberta. Every year they orginize 3-4 adventures for vw buses to attend. So I headed off towards Cranbrook. \ This was a quaint lil Provincial park, just past Midway, a great lil spot to make a sandwich and allow things to cool down I got as far as Moyie Lake Provincial park, found a spot and camped for the night. Headed off the next morning to Cranbrook, to meet up with Richard, a friend I met at my first CamperJam. We hung out for the day and I went to set up camp at Jimsmith Lake, just minutes from town. It was great to hang out around the fire and bs. Goldberg was a lil tired from the driving I must say though, the lil set up looks kinda cool at night I leave in a couple days to Kikomun, woohooo
