My wife says that it is the ugliest car I have ever owned and that I look like a poor person when I drive it and that she will never be getting into it.

There is something special about the old 36hp engines. They seem smoother and quieter for some reason... This is the same 36hp that you found the 2 bent push rods I got it all cleaned up and it is running pretty good I have cleaned first by swishing the motor out with diesel fuel then running with clean oil and seafoam mixed before hitting the road another oil change and more seafoam. I am trying to clean out the rings and things this motor was so dirty and abused but now it is running pretty good very sloppy though .026 endplay.

Making up for their ignorance.
Beautiful car, even if it makes you look poor. Usually it's what you have to spend on them that makes you end up penniless.

dual relief? are those 10mm studs? 211 prefix indicates type 2 application as does the rear mounting. i dont see the captive nut on the left side to trans for doghouse cooler so defiantly single port, cylinder spigots look small like 1500. whats the number under the generator stand Terry?

Dual relief yes 10mm studs yes ae245037 is the # under the generator I will check the spigot size and the captive nut looks like a good case for building off of and yes it does have rear mounting thanks I have friend who wants to build a motor I am going to offer it up.

First quarter 1971 dual port Beetle 211 prefix indicates type 2 application as does the rear mounting. Forgive my ignorance, but why not type 2, especially with the moustache bar threaded hole? Was that perhaps added later? Just asking, you guys are the engine gurus, I barely know what a VW is these days, being up to my ears in house projects just to make it liveable...sigh.
