I've been trying to post some photo's to the site from my Google photo account. I selected the photo in the Google account, selected the share button and then "create link". I then copied the link and pasted it into the URL line in the "insert image" icon on our site. For some reason, this is what I get: The above should be an image of my car. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I am going wrong? I am posting from my laptop.

Thanks man! I have always found the photo posting to be a bit awkward on this site. I've signed up for PB and we'll see how I do.
Thanks for taking the time to instruct. B

Don't know about phone stuff, but I can tell you Photobucket is much worse to use then it once was. There is now so much advertising on the site, that it is difficult to use now.

Maybe this could be an alternative? Looks like it costs $2 a month...less than the tylenol required to keep the Photobucket headaches away: imageevent.com/

Sooo, as time goes by, things change in our society, and not always for the better. Reading a lot of reviews, and pretty much everyone agrees that Photobucket was once one of the best hosting sites for photos, but is now is universally hated by most long term users. The proliferation of ads has rendered it pretty much unusable. It is true that I have been using the free version for years, and Photobucket offers an advertisement free version for a fee. Apparently many who have done this, state that some ads are still there and the operating speed is still slow. Many have been wanting to jump ship, but it is hard to do when you have over 1000 photos with them.
The other problem is that our own website lives on linked photos to outside sources. If Photobucket were to fail completely, then the vast majority of photos on the site would be lost. Hopefully this will not happen, but if Photobucket goes broke, that will be the end result. I have my photos saved on different memory cards, so they COULD be reloaded on a different host, but this would be extremely unpleasant...
For now I would like to hear from others who use different host sites that can link big clear pictures we are used too seeing here. I am unlikely able to add many more to Photobucket the way things are progressing...

What about thesamba? They host their own photos, although I think part of the deal is that you need to post them on the site. Also anything not VW related gets removed.

I would assume thesamba has their own custom made website that likely costs quite a bit for the maintenance and storage. Everett can afford that from the advertising and he also accepts donations as well. A free software host site like this could never do that, and Don has mentioned we are running out of room already (or did that already happen???)

Photobucket is an fun sucker for sure. I've been trying to post an update for about a week and I can't get it to work. I'd be happy to sponsor an upgrade so we have more data space. Any idea what the cost would be? I'll ask some of the techies at my office in Toronto to see what the kids are doing these days.
PEACE! B
