I don't think so. It might be np for you, but for someone like Volktales with a million pics, there is cause for concern if it goes down. Our website would decrease by more than half I think, which would be a shame. There seems to be some hysteria surrounding the potential demise of PB, but so far it is nothing more than Chicken Little squawk, IMHO  But we have to be prepared for anything these days, esp. internet related. How do we know imgur will not go the same way with respect to advertising? I think I might investigate posting pics here that are hosted on thesamba. Wonder if it will work? |

Well it looks like the hammer has dropped. My original Photobucket account is no longer working and now the links have failed. Photobucket is downward spiralling. I will be able to re post the photos using Imgur, but this will take time. NOT IMPRESSED...

Did some internet reading. Apparently Photobucket is attempting to extort users into paying bigtime to hotlink any photos anymore. It is a short matter of time before all Photobucket hosted photos will fail. I CAN repost all my pictures because they are all still saved on memory cards and hard drives. It won't be fun or easy... And even paying customers are having problems as well. From the limited reading I have been doing, most are jumping to Imgur...

I have started the process of re-linking photos via Imgur. Is slow but will happen. Worst part is locating which files the earlier pictures are in as the dates are not accurate. I will re-link photos as popular threads are updated. Build threads and stickys will be restored. If anyone has specific threads they would like fixed first, please chime in. I would encourage everyone who has pictures on this site from Photobucket, transfer them to another host while you still can. Photobucket will not be around much longer...

It is DONE! All pictures have been finally restored! (Except for this crappy thread, but that is OK) The final tally was 3247 pictures uploaded to IMGUR to replace the Photobucket pics as well those that were never entered onto Photobucket. I did return to Photobucket one last time to extract one special photo that I could not locate anywhere else. Photobucket is just about permanently done now, as almost no functions will work due to all the popup advertising. May they forever rot in pieces... and finally this thread will die...

So this is interesting. It seems Photobucket's scheme of fleecing those who used the hosting site for forum pictures has come to an end (at least temporarily). Supposedly the management responsible for the huge fees have left the company, and for awhile the hosted pictures are visible again. For how long this applies, it is not known, so enjoy the previous broken links on this site while you can...
For those of you who were unable to retreive your Photobucket pictures, to transfer to Imgur (or host of your choice), save the images from this site and then transfer to the new host. You won't have to return to Photobucket to do this...
