I've got a '74 Westy in my driveway, haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do with it yet. I'd be happy to sell it in one piece but if there is enough immediate demand for parts then piece by piece is certainly an option.
Typical rust but looks repairable. Underside and frame looks good at a cursory glance. Complete, interior in decent condition although seat foam is breaking down. Hasn't been on the road for several years and I haven't checked the engine out yet but it is reportedly fairly low miles on a strong remanufactured engine. Automatic trans.
Drop me a line if all or part of it is of interest to you. I don't have any photos yet but will get some tomorrow.
Now offered at $1700 obo to MIACVW forum members!

I already have a future project bus that I have no idea when I am even going to start on it yet... But I am sure someone out there could use a project. That automatic will be an acquired taste for most... Lets see some pictures..

Clay, as much as love acquiring spares for my '74 Westy I'd prefer to see someone here get it back on the road and to the MIACVW show next fall Something like Willow and her former Ronald McDonald bus, I like what she's doing with a van that was in need of refurbishment. Russ, I briefly owned an automatic once and it was fun surprisingly, though like most I have a preference for standard. Clay, do you have pictures? When did you get the bus?

This is kind of neat, there's a book detailing the majority of the van's life...when/where/who it was originally owned by, lots of gas entries, maintenance log and so forth.

Some rust holes at the step area. I haven't tried turning the engine at all so I have no idea what it's current condition is. Attachments:

Wow, it looks like there is a lot of good in that vehicle yet. I know, it's going to need a lot of TLC, but a good candidate for someone who wants to fix one up, as in more time than money. I love the gas journal, I was given a similar one from the previous owner of one of my buses. To me it shows that it was cared for, at least at one time. That looks like the original 1800 with dual Solex carbs, nice set up, strong and reliable.

Current mileage is in the low 90k range I think (have to check). Definitely a neat companion piece as it details maintenance and repairs through the years. I'm not sure if it's the original 1800, the guy I got it from said it had been replaced with a remanufactured engine (not sure if he really meant rebuilt) possibly by Beetle Auto Service. That would have been several years back though.

Have you checked to see if the engine is free? As you know, they're so simple they can sit for YEARS, one of mine hadn't moved an inch for 12 years, revived with not too much effort.

No, haven't touched it since it arrived in my driveway! Hopefully I'll have some time soon but man I hate this time of year with the early darkness.
