Did I mention that I have a tendency to get carried away on projects???
It may have happened again... At least the mechanical work is all done now, and finally onto the interior and sound system installation. Oh joy...

Maybe Russ can start an orphanage and adopt all of us. Then maybe he can apply to the governmint and get a few mega-bucks for his charitable work.

So I understand that you cleaned it, but how did you make it so shiny? Is there some trick that you wouldn't do on an Air-Cooled VW? The "car" that I first drove around(to school when I was allowed) was the 66 Fargo long-box "farm" truck. I can't imagine the trouble I would have gotten into if I had been fortunate enough to have something this racy to try to impress the girls with. Hmmmm, maybe that is why I was single for so long…strike that, I think I know the reason…. …….Anyhow, I am kinda glad I never had such a resplendent ride; how are you ever going to get Victor to clean it after he discovers how much fun it is to drive? I wanted to clean our 70 Westy all the time and perhaps that is one reason M+D gave it to me as my first car of my own. Well, that and it was a rusty POS by that time

The product is called AD2000 and is made by the same company that manufactures Moovit. It is sold as a protectant, and works well. It looks similar to that shiny stuff you find on used cars after they have steam cleaned the engine compartment. What it works very well for is hiding any of that white powdery corrosion you can find on alloys. I have used it on lightly corroded VW engine cases in the past with very good results... Lordco has it in stock.

Still trying to get the sound system functioning correctly. Managed to drop the damn head unit, which naturally refused to work correctly again. A $201 mistake which combined with two new speakers and necessary wiring mean I am $400 into the sound system and it is still not right yet... Hate to think what a complete system would cost to install from scratch... Currently am having problems getting much output via the front speakers. With the old unit the performance from the rear speakers was poor. Am learning more about subs, bridging, filters, gain, and inputs then I really want to... Oh and I desperately tried to save the original head unit and got an electronics specialist friend to check it out, but no joy. The tuner reception of the unit had partially failed and that was that. Bummer. Can't wait to finish this project off...

I think I have an old 8-track underdash unit that I could let you have at a very competitive rate!

Sooo, an old friend who is into electronics and audio came over last night and tweaked the Honda's system. Adjusting the amps, and fiddling with the crossover helped, but reprogramming the new head unit to the "standard" setting, instead of the "network setting" seemed to do the trick. The kid is downstairs rattling the house windows with the bass, so I assume the results are "acceptable"... Now the alarm system/immobilizer is next...

I thought the booming stereo would be "alarming" enough....

At least you're hear the young fella coming home late at night. I would never give my daughter more audio fire power than she already has. Her choice of music does not inspire me to help her make it louder.
I too have a stereo friend. They are handy guys to have around. They are more complicated than one would think. B

Russ, would you please hurry up and get your dad's cars running properly, your house guests attended to, your house's water leak fixed, and your wife's thesis papers proofread so you can get back to this car and we can see/hear it in person as you cruise down the street with your left hand free?

Sure. Just after I create world peace. Might need one of those "special" cookies to accomplish that...
