I ordered the Weld On Fender Mount and also the Bullet Turn Signal Housing and bunch of screws from vwispwest.com/ they have a great catalog really easy to use and find stuff not available elsewhere they are big time type 3 people and there prices including shipping were cheap than the local free shipping place. It looks like I may have got the last two mounts because I see now they are out of stock like everywhere else they say mine have been shipped we will see.

Wow that was quick and easy the parts I ordered from ISP showed up in 7 days good prices low shipping costs no duty or import charges and easy all I had to do was add the stuff to my cart and checkout with Paypal no filling out anything. I am really impressed with the easy to use catalog.

This is my old 61 in Sooke around 1988 the car was scraped in Cumberland 1995 and hasn't been on the road since 1986 and I want to fire up the engine this week the engine is the original out of my green 65 it is a 6 volt 1300cc and it ran awesome I tried to blow it up and it would not. Plan is to clean it up and put and stock exhaust on it and use it for a runner to save my tired 36hp in the Coral 57. It still turns over and is really crusty we will see sounds like fun right.

Got a picture of the 1300cc as it sits today. Also got a picture of the fender one high corner repair. This is what it looked like before.

fenders look good! I like the colour you've gone with. Will be interested to see if you get that engine running. Getting sticky spark plugs out of 'em can take some perseverance sometimes....

I saw rustybug61 yesterday he has a thing now also doesn't seem to come here much anymore he didn't know I was doing fenders was nice to see him he is a good player. I haven't got the 1300 engine running yet but I have no doubt it will run have clean it up and adjusted valves it turns over easy but has a lot of end play the plugs took a lots of effort to come out but I got them without tearing out the threads took hours working them back and forth going to do a compression test and fire it up. I have also been hanging with our new best friend beetlejuice we got two of his 3 motors running and they look good and tight the third was stuck and took hours to free finally got it so of coarse it had low compression I am going to ask him if we can pull the heads and have a look. More later the wife is coming.

Ya when we fired up Drew's engines we had dumped diesel into the cylinders and down the carb did a compression test and then fired them up it was an impressive smoke show raw diesel and smoke everywhere smoke detectors going off and for a short time rivaled Clay's victory burnout but only for a minute but nothing even close to that.

I've loved learning from Stude about my engines. How can one person know wo much about vw's? So pleased how two of the three engines have turned out! Tons of compression. The third engine is going to need some time and attention to see why the low compression. But it's been sitting for almost thirty years. Wondering about rings. Took a long time to persuade it to move. As Terry promised, once we completed one full rotation it got progressively easier. A lesson in patience, though. Lots of diesel oil and patience. Pulling the heads as per Terry's suggestion will be interesting. All three engines are 1600's. Slightly different but mostly the same.
Am looking forward to getting the two strong engines in my two 71's soon. Will post some pics. Need to get Terry to show me the trick to that.

The epoxy is a very hard primer that can go directly over metal and paint and seals the prep and waterproof it doesn't sand well so that is why the high fill primer which is easy to sand but more porous. The epoxy is harder to sand through the high fill is easy so when your trying to level the paint you don't keep going through to bare metal.

knowing that little trick sure would have saved me some grief (and sanding and painting and sanding and painting) in the past....
