it's true that I look at beat up metal parts differently as I watch this process. Makes me think twice about just going to CIP1.ca when I'm trying to figure out replacement body parts. Bit of a learning curve, though....

Clay's fender two is done as well as my old side swiped fender five and it is one of the shiniest things I have painted in a long time I am using the basecoat clearcoat method and not the single stage solid colour. It is nice because you can handle it between coats flip it over and the like if you wait long enough with epoxy and high fill primer you can do that also. Gives you and good chance at good coverage and even a chance the sand lightly or scuff pad and wipe with a blue shop towel you done have to wait long 20 minutes for epoxy less for high fill primer only like 5 minutes for basecoat. The basecoat is just basecoat and thinner I was using 30 tablespoons of mix for type of paint per fender mix too much and you will use it and you will get runs. The basecoat seems to get eaten by the clearcoat and the melt together. The basecoat even get eaten by the isopropyl from a sqirt bottle and a blue shop towel I use to wipe down between coats if I scuff of sand. 30 tablespoons is a good number for each of the different types of paint per fender.

The corner in the fender at the body line is too high this has to be cut and the edge has to be folded in more to allow the fender to sit in place.
I then gave it a coat of primer and the basecoat clearcoat painted with a small brush I don't think I did any damage to the face of the paint job. I will try and get a picture.

I get some hits online when I google it but some are a bit pricey. maybe a request with a new title here in case someone has one but isn't watching this cool play-by-play of bodywork?

I am pretty sure I have zero Oval parts left in my stash. Definitely never had any of those signal mounts...

He's looking for the base part that's permanently affixed to the fender. The bulb holder, reflector, body and lens all bolt onto it.
