Check out CB performance for the spacers they are about 20.00 a pair for what you need. Porsche pattern ones are even reasonable. Let me know I may be placing a order with them in the next month or 2 and the extra weight won't make much of a difference with shipping. That wiring looks pretty nice actually. My Old 69 (now Greg's ) had a PO custom harness and was a gross mess. Russ can attest to that. I went back to stock on it. My Oval has that "custom" SANO show car wiring. It works fine but way over the top for a car that originally had 4 fuses. I don't even have a radio in that car. Stoked to see that car buzzing around!

Sooo, here are some more pictures of HighTopRob's latest project... The garage is jammed as usual, but Rob has just enough working room to get things done. The car has had a LOT of modifications done to it, some of them a bit unusual. The dash and pad has been "molded" with something, but we are not really sure what it is. Check out that low mileage! Dash is very colourful when the key is turned on. Lots of interesting switches, and none of them labeled. At least the interesting electrical system seems to work. Although hard to see in this shot, note the unusual wood around the door frame. Also the material glued over the door tops and window surround. Rob hated that and it is now gone. Lots of unusual custom ideas in this car... Here is another custom touch. Some artwork to honour the previous owner's First Nation heritage. It is nicely done, but hard to see as it is in the back of the rear trunk. It will be staying. And finally the engine. Other than a big fat oil leak from the cooler, (which Rob replaced), it started up and sounds quite decent. Generator was not installed for some reason; I can't remember if Rob said it was missing or not... And here it is with sound! Rob is going to love cruising in this VW. He already has managed to pick up and original and rare red interior for it!!! Should be a lot of fun!

Rob has been out looking for deals on Type 3 parts. And he has been finding them too! He appears to have bagged some fenders and sheetmetal... More seats, and glass is buried under there too. And a very full load of everything else. And he hasn't even mentioned about the Pigalle interior he scored for it earlier...

Rob has now installed his new red door panels. And I saw these before and they were a mess. Look really nice now! What was your secret, Rob???

Well Russ after a good cleaning I spent about 3 hours stretching them back to somewhat normal with a heat gun wood strips and clamps.I would heat a spot pull a little and clamp let cool and do it again then move to another part repeat over and over again until I was happy with how much it stretched out. After that I glued in place, again with heat and clamps. In total this one in the picture took about 6 hours to do. The others were not as difficult but still took hours for each one.I forgot to do the before picture so there is no way to compare now hahaha. Not perfect but I am happy with em!!

Hey guys here is a little update on the fasty!! If you remember I said in the beginning there are a bunch of weird things done to this car but I also said you were going to have to wait until Funbuz opens in the spring but this one I just have to share!!! Russ came out soon after I brought the car home and took a bunch of pictures and he took a couple of the dash which is very odd, we were trying to figure out what it is made of hahahaha well now I know!! Russ thought it may be fiberglass, Ray suggested maybe spray on foam and I just didnt have a clue. Today I was going to install the door trim but discovered the dash was molded right up to the pillar so the trim wouldnt slip on so in order to install it I had to remove the part thats in the way, I figured a hammer and chisel would be a good start to see what happens after the first wack there it was plain as day ITS BONDO!!!! lol covered in some sort of undercoating, bed liner or rock guard kinda stuff. Ray and I spent the next half hour laughing our guts out trying to figure out how the PO came to that decision and why!!! ? More weirdness to come!!!!!!!

Dash made of Bondo? That is certainly a new one! Your car's previous owner must have been quite "special"... Rob has installed his rear panels now, as well as the back seat. That is red under those covers, but like most VW seats of the era, they did not hold up well. The black over-covers look fine. The dreaded previous owner struck again! Who sprays the entire door with what looks like undercoating? Rob has some work ahead of him to rebuild the doors and clean off the undercoat from the areas that show. Lotsa fun!

Ya I have seen some strange things done to VW's but this one definitely takes the cake!!!! Absolutely hilarious!!!! I guess when I go to return it to normal sometime in the future I will have to use a hammer to bust it up hahahahahaha

i dont think thats undercoating on the doors , there was a product on the market which was spray on sound deadening, which i think that is it. to be covered over with door panels ,carpet etc. does look sprayed a little high tho.

You are probably right. Something like that Lizard Skin, or whatever it was called. The previous owner intended to cover the normally exposed painted sections with a thin tan material. I saw it and it looked amazingly bad. Rob hated it and ripped it out with glee...

Sooo I was up in Coombs today, giving Rob a hand with his Fasty project. Naturally I forgot I had my camera with me and didn't take any useful pictures except this: Rob needs a couple of complete links like this to get those carbs working properly. His were damaged by a previous owner and subsequently broke. Surprisingly Reagh's stash was unable to provide these parts, so does anyone have some spares out there for Rob??? His Fasty is moving along and getting better each day.
