So Rob has been back to the project and decided to pull out the motor... He was having some overheating issues, and discovered the lower deflector tins were missing. These have to install before the pushrod tubes, and the previous "builder" left them out. Anyway I had some in my stash that Frank had got somewhere, so the parts finally ended up with someone that needed them! Good when things work out... Everything looked in decent shape, other than the crosshatching was gone off the cylinders (which were near new). It likely was running too rich at first and washed away the lubricating oil from the cylinders. Rob has a hone and will make that better... And look what Reagh had in his stash for the project. Too bad you can't order these up from Bow-Wow anymore. I guess Reagh has a time-machine buried in the garage somewhere... Anyway Rob is working away at putting this back together and hopefully it will be up and running again soon...

I also discovered the cooling tin that goes between the cylinders and the fan shroud were also missing. Again Russ donated these two pieces from his T3 parts car. Thanks Russ!!!

Rob is continuing on getting this engine back together... In reality, a lot of the smaller pieces of cooling tin were missing... Here it is all back together, and ready to go in. Hopefully with all the missing tin now reinstated, it will run cooler too. Rob states that these type 3 engines are easier to get in and out then the type 4 bus. Surprisingly, I have never had the pleasure of pulling a type 3 engine... Yet.
